my attempt to make a standard sliver deck in the overlap of M14 and M15. comments welcome.
it has a pretty aggressive mana curve with a lot of play options. depending on whether you're playing u/w control, red aggro, mono-green ramp, or mono-black, different strategies can be used.
generally, the
Striking Sliver
or
Bonescythe Sliver
combo with
Venom Sliver
to make your creatures kill other creatures.
Galerider Sliver
provides evasion, and
Elvish Mystic
and
Manaweft Sliver
provide lots of ramp. Blur Sliver + Manaweft Sliver
can be a pretty nasty turn two combo to play your hand.
Sentinel Sliver
lets you attack and block each turn without losing the ability to tap for mana or play
Chord of Calling
. i have won a few times attacking with five slivers on turn four and
Chord of Calling
in a
Megantic Sliver
before damage. there is also the option to chord in
Bonescythe Sliver
if you miss a land drop and double your damage. this trick is equally fun to play during blocking.
Thorncaster Sliver
removes creatures pretty handily and is another option for
Chord of Calling
, as is
Constricting Sliver
.
against u/w control, the best best is to get
Sliver Hivelord
out before their turn four, which can be difficult to do consistently but not impossible. it may also be good to sideboard
Boros Charm
, but i ain't got any of those.
Return to the Ranks
can actually suffice for getting up to three guys out of the graveyard on the next turn, especially if the opponent has to tap out. I bring in
Savage Summoning
too.
against mono-black, I side in four
Diffusion Sliver
s to avoid all the targeted removal. I have found them less useful than aggressive slivers in other matchups.
this deck is pretty good as is against mono-green since it is a little bit faster and there aren't good responses to flying or first strike in that deck. the
Sentinel Sliver
becomes pretty crucial, as well as
Venom Sliver
, to deal with
Polukranos, World Eater
and
Nissa, Worldwaker
.
the
Domri Rade
is cheap and pretty useful for getting more slivers in your hand, especially when playing a scry temple first to see what you're going to get. the -2 ability doesn't see much play since the slivers are small, but the ultimate is easy to hit and pretty good, since there is no other trample source in the deck.
against rabble red, i might side in
Diffusion Sliver
and
Negate
depending on how much burn they are playing.
