Who says defenders aren't viable? ...Okay, they're not, but a guy can dream. This is meant to be a deck on a very tight budget, which explains the lack of Breeding Pool and Hinterland Harbor .

Win conditions:

Doorkeeper : Mill them out.

Ludevic's Test Subject   : 10 mana is a breeze for this deck.

Door to Nothingness: Like I said, 10 mana is easy.

Mana production:

Gatecreeper Vine : More for mana accel than anything.

Axebane Guardian: Taps for 4 or 5 pretty consistently.

Galvanic Alchemist : Doesn't tap for mana himself, but goes infinite with Axebane Guardian and at least 3 other defenders.

Plasm Capture : Why just counter a spell when you can Mana Drain it?

Control:

Plasm Capture : Yep, qualifies here too.

Dissipate: Likely the best counterspell available in Standard.

Cyclonic Rift: Considering taking out a Door to Nothingness for a third copy of this.

Think Twice: Who doesn't run this nowadays?

Fog Bank: YOU SHALL NOT PASS.
