My take on Abzan Midrange/Junk.

I went into making this list by asking the question 'why play abzan?' specifically, why play abzan over Jund and Mardu Pyromancer?

The Answer, Sorin, Solemn Visitor.

Junk sits comfortably in-between Jund and Mardu on the aggro-control spectrum. In many ways each deck is defined by the top of it's mana curve. Jund with Bloodbraid Elf, Mardu with Bedlam Reveler, and historically Junk with Siege Rhino. However, the rhino just can't compete with the card advantage given by it's competition. Ergo, I went looking for alternatives, and after a lot of play testing landed on Sorin, Solemn Visitor. Sorin fits Junk's play style incredibly well. On top of helping to offset a lot of the Dark Confidant damage that comes from the decks relatively high avg. cmc., he also: quickens the decks clock, makes the burn match up much less abhorrent, and if it comes down to a grind his Ultimate will carry you through most midrange matchups.
