Izzet is about Passion, Intellect and Creativity, we end up in all or nothing scenarios and you either have the ability to out play your opponents or you leave thinking your deck didn't work out the way you thought it would. The best part is when you lose, you adapt and find new ways to bring your deck to life which is the essence of Izzet and the beauty of MTG.

IMO

Magic: the Gathering is a card game designed to produce game-states filled with interaction between you and your opponent. In EDH/Commander this concept is expressed greatly and by having a 99 card singleton and a General, no deck needs to be the same on any tier. Each deck you build has its own way of interacting with your opponents in order to progress your own win. Playgroups have the trouble of bringing casual players into competitive environments, personally your group should talk to each other about how they want to play this format because there's no point playing "Jace high tide" against slow and janky battlecruisers.

The unexpected can go very far in this format, if your opponents know your strategy is flash hulk or hermit druid then from the get go they know when to hold counter magic and what to deal with. What each iteration of my deck tries to work out is the balance between a linear strategy and a continuously unexpected play style.

Commander decks should be puzzles your opponents need to solve, this is what in my personal opinion makes Magic fun. My current iteration deals with the problems of mana, I'm able to devise easy but complex combos or interactions that can settle in an above average tier environment.
