Silverquill but make it Modern

Secluded in the attic of a cheap tavern, the author slaved away. Rain ran in rivulets down the window and the candle flickered to and fro, bravely clinging to the wick while the draught commanded it to die. In solitude, he could give a voice to his grief. It propelled his quill from inkwell to paper and back again -- and through writing truth, he poured magic onto the pages.

Sketches in the margins. Notes from his mentor strewn across the desk. Ancient tomes from secret archives, stacked haphazardly on the floor. There was so much material, so much noise, ideas appearing like a vision and vanishing like a mirage, it seemed impossible to cut to the core of the story. To find the stillness within.

The author closed his eyes and took slow, deep breaths. There was a lake buried within his chest, in a cavernous space many times his size. A sanctuary so silent, one could hear a drop of water fall and sink through the surface. Its echo filled the void. The ripples expanded, ever outward, and the author floated on the tide that the ripple became. He thought of the sculptor, who did not add to his art, but removed until only the essence remained. To cut away all that was unnecessary. To cut.

The ink took shape and came to life. It wielded a sword.
