This deck is based around the versatility of the available snow cards, and their ability to fit into many different situations. Many cards in this deck could qualify as both aggressive and defensive, or failing that provide value or disruption.
Uro, Titan of Nature's Wrath
is one of the few permanents that does not qualify as snow, and even then he is powerful enough that any loss of synergy is made up for in raw value and power. Both
The Three Seasons
and
Glacial Revelation
generate value while also providing fuel for Uro's escape ability.
Jorn, God of Winter
plays a couple of roles. First, he acts as ramp, untapping all of your snow lands whenever he attacks. There is also a defensive side to him, as untapping all of your snow creatures after they attack (including himself) will ensure that you always have blockers on the ready. In addition, his flip side
Kaldring, the Rimestaff
ensures that you should never run out of value.
On the side of late-game threats and win conditions, there are two major cards in this category. The first is
Abominable Treefolk
. Treefolk acts as a large creature with trample late in the game. It gets more powerful with each snow permanent you put down on the table, and can get rather large as the game progresses. It also has the added benefit of tapping down one of your opponent's creatures for a turn or two, which can save you quite a bit of hassle in some matchups. The other card in this category is
Marit Lage's Slumber
. Marit Lage's Slumber is a twofold blessing. On one side, you have a 20/20 with flying and indestructible potentially soaring in by turn 5 or 6. Not only does that provide a major threat for your opponents to take care of, but it also serves as a awesome blocker against decks that like to run large creatures. Marit Lage has another blessing in store, however. In addition to the looming threat of a gigantic creature, it also provides raw value. Whenever a snow permanent enters the battlefield under your control, you get to scry 1. It doesnt sound like a lot, but it helps immensely with finding the card you need, when you need it.
In terms of other cards, there are a couple of highlights.
Dead of Winter
is a powerful one-sided board clear for this deck. You will usually have enough snow permanents at most stages in the game to take care of an enemy board. Not being targeted, it doesn't need to worry about hexproof, and it doesn't care about indestructible either because it works through lowering stats.
Ice-Fang Coatl
is a nice bit of card draw on a flash 1/1 deathtouch body, which can be nice for surprising big creatures. It also works as a tempo play.
Don't forget to upvote if you like the deck ! :)
I'm still working on the sideboard and would appreciate any suggestions.
