While I save up rare wildcards on MTG Arena, I've been trying to construct a strong Bo1 standard deck without using any rares. My first attempts were centered around Raff, Weatherlight Stalwart, culminating in Super-Budget Azorius Midrange. The deck has a lot of sweet pieces and synergies, but Raff is often too slow. This deck takes my favorite parts of the midrange deck, loosening up on the control in favor of quick attacking.

Chaplain of Alms   is an essential defensive card in many matchups. Its first strike is absolutely essential against Urabrask's Forge, especially given that this deck doesn't interact with artifacts or enchantments. Furthermore, you can cast it from the graveyard as Chapel Shieldgeist  .

Elspeth's Smite serves as the deck's only removal for creatures with three or fewer toughness. It is particularly useful against Skystrike Officer and Glissa Sunslayer, which can become value machines early in the game.

Faerie Vandal is the deck's main win condition. Generally, you'll want to trigger its passive ability on your turn, but you can cast Faithful Mending to trigger it on your opponent's turn as well.

Hypnotic Grifter is a mere 1-drop, but it can quickly become the strongest card on the battlefield by repeatedly conniving. It can also be used to trigger Faerie Vandal consistently, most often pre-combat.
