T2 Progenitus (or any other MTG card)

Modern Aggro Combo Jank

Disclaimer: this deck is unreliable and not recommended for competitive play. Instead, it was meant as a mental exercise to see how quickly I could theoretically get a Progenitus (or Emrakul, the Aeons Torn, etc.) onto the battlefield in a Modern deck. Surprisingly, it turns out it's possible on turn-2:

  • T1: Windbrisk Heights, and cast three 0-mana creatures (Memnite or Ornithopter). Use Windbrisk Height's Hideaway ability to look at the top four cards of your library. In our God-hand scenario, Progenitus is one of those four and you exile it.
  • T2: Razorverge Thicket, attack with your three 0-mana creatures and use the Plains mana to tap Windbrisk Heights and play Progenitus!

If the top four cards didn't contain a powerful creature, you can just keep retrying with Weathered Wayfarer. As a backup plan, use Elvish Piper.

This method is faster than other popular strategies, like Emrakul, the Aeons Torn + Nahiri, the Harbinger or Descendants' Path + a Changeling creature on the battlefield.

Before you get too excited, though, please note this deck is extremely vulnerable to a multitude of countermeasures, isn't very reliable, and is insanely expensive. If you want a less expensive and more reliable deck, there are better options, like T2 Infect. For the curious, there are a ton of improvements that could be made to this deck (like using Scry or Congregation at Dawn-type cards to ensure your desired card is in the top four and fortifying Windbrisk Heights from land destruction spells or switching to a Mosswort Bridge strategy that's less vulnerable but takes slightly longer to play). For illustrative purposes, I just wanted to demonstrate pure speed.
