Those who drink from Malfegor's cup are tainted with hunger and stained with lies.

"I want to play Sire Of Insanity" became this deck. It was designed not to win, but to be fun to play.

Starting Out

The opening hand should have at least two lands and a rock. The most important thing is to get a good manabase. Everything else can wait.

The Deck

Standard Nekusar strategy, I think -- Nekusar, the Mindrazer, Spiteful Visions, or Phyrexian Tyranny combined with Howling Mine-esque cards can kill pretty quickly. In fact, if Phyrexian Tyranny resolves, it's always game over for someone (even if that someone is me). The main thing that differs between this deck and other Nekusar decks I've seen (and played against) is how much I lean into chaotic red "strategy." Wheel of Fortune is my favorite card and I think it shows.

Furnace of Rath and Dictate of the Twin Gods, along with anything else that can deal me damage, should be used very carefully. This deck can't really protect against any sort of damage, meaning I must preserve my life total as best I can . . . even if that only means not destroying it myself.

Oppression + Waste Not. There's some excellent synergy between those and Liliana's Caress, Mindcrank, and Bloodchief Ascension. And yes, there's the Mindcrank + Bloodchief Ascension combo.

Wheel and Deal can be fun, especially when I Fork it. I also have a habit of Reverberateing Wheel of Fortunes because I like the idea of milling my opponent's combo pieces. Throw in a Waste Not and boy are we having fun.

Alternatively, Wheel and Deal with Notion Thief (or even better, Notion Thief and Psychosis Crawler) and draw everyone's cards for them. If I run out of deck, Laboratory Maniac and Elixir of Immortality will hopefully be there to save me. Day's Undoing has also saved me in the aforementioned "oop, I have deck in hand, what do?" situation. One thing to keep in mind is that Notion Thief doesn't last more than three or so turns. He sorta negates Neku, but it will never be for long.

Tormod's Crypt and friends are because I play against graveyard decks sometimes. Damping Matrix is in a similar vein, just tailored to my arch-nemesis, Prepare Your Anus, Here Comes Arcanis. (No, it never works, but a girl can dream).

If I feel like frustrating my opponents, combining Seizan, Perverter of Truth, Mindcrank, and either Nekusar, the Mindrazer or Spiteful Visions will do the job. Seizen specifies "on upkeep" while Neku and Spiteful Visions specify "on drawstep." Because the opponents mill when they lose life, they have to draw, mill, draw, mill at the beginning of every turn. I insist on it because Long-Term Plans is a thing, but oh my the rage I cause.

And then there's Sire Of Insanity. I like to play him and then wheel. Repeatedly.
