Tami-SNOW ((MODERN // Sultai Snow Control))

Modern BUG (Sultai) Competitive Snow Tempo

Sideboard

My Sultai snow tempo/control brew. I've found it to be a ton of fun and quite competitive against the *current spread of tier decks. Sultai Snow has been around in similar form since MH1 but I have not seen a list set up quite like this, with 4 Subtlety and 4 Blizzard Brawl. The core of the deck involves generating advantage off of Frost Augur and Scrying Sheets (and now Tamiyo), while controlling the board with Blizzard Brawl and Dead of Winter, backed up by countermagic and Subtlety. Then Abominable Treefolk, Avalanche Caller, and/or Blessing of Frost on your smaller creatures can quickly close out games, while your advantage engines allow you to play through a bunch of removal and stay gassed up. I'm still making some tuning adjustments, would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions if any!

Personally I think Sultai Snow....is pretty cool ❄😎❄🥶❄

Updated for MH3 6/14

Just for reference there are 32 snow perms, I think this is about the minimum to get realistic value out of Frost Augur. This ratio effectively gives you an upkeep cost of to draw a card every OTHER turn, per Augur, and gets better when stacked with draw from our clues/coatls and/or shuffle effects, also giving selection. Overall I think is a respectable amount of value for a control deck and as a bowmasters-proof 1 drop, even if the card seems questionable, in practice it allows us to bury most control/midrange matchups in counterspells, removal, and big bodies, even against the top Jeskai lists we can out-value and out-grind them if we are able to counter their Ring. And we run a lot more counters than they do. The problem lies in the more aggro boros lists, which we can usually only beat by drawing our Dead of Winter, where they still have access to Phlage who is tough for our deck to handle. (but not impossible, Subtlety/Endurance are pretty good against Phlage.)

I only wish the other "snow" sorceries Dead of Winter and Into the North Actually had the snow type! Scrying those cards and not being able to draw them is the only thing that feels bad about playing this deck. That and that one Break the Ice card :(
