Teaching Kids to Play - Step Two Blue

Casual Casual Mono-Blue

Fimbrethil

Maybeboard

This deck is designed for use after the step one beginner learning decks (found in my Teaching folder) and should be played against any of the 4 other step two decks. The new player should be given the Green deck first for familiarity and should be played against the Blue deck first because Reach won't make sense without learning about Flying. Once they're comfortable with the new concepts, move on to any of the other three but have them use the deck they just played against to get familiar with it.

In Blue, we teach some new mechanics and concepts including Flying, Unblockable, Scry, Card Advantage, Control, and of course Counterspells. If I did it right, this deck should highlight the strengths and weaknesses of Blue. Any of these cards can be replaced with comparable ones from other sets, these are all just cards I had around. The only real requirement is that they're simple and easy to understand.

This one is still under development since I'm still building the other decks, so may be changed for balance. The maybeboard would replace some of the spells that do nothing other than card draw or scry or maybe a couple of manipulators, but I'm still considering how to go about incorporating some of them. After a few playtests it's clear that the extra mana production is definitely necessary. Please give suggestions if you have ideas for balancing between the 5 decks, they do help.
