I want to make a deck with combat tricks and fighting as the main theme here, especially with flash and instants.
Basically with the flavour of surviving the harsh conditions early (e.g. aggro) then applying ferocity using the elements of the battlefield hitting hard.
Blue to carry me to mid-range and combat tricks, primarily green based creatures (Can't afford stormbreath), Red to pump/finish.
This deck was put together with pre-release cards.
Cards I'm looking for this deck are listed in maybeboard.
Early game:Stubborn Denial: To protect against removal mid game but more importantly stop creatures coming in, both early and late game.
Voyage's End
: Used for bouncing to get you to end game. The scry is very important to get rid of dead draws. Also used to save key creatures
Savage Knuckleblade
or Prophet of Kruphix
Triton Tactics
: Combat trick. Aim is to swing in, especially with Heir of the Wilds, and bait your opponent to swing in and use this to kill their creature, or a tap down.
Heir of the Wilds: Excellent turn 2 play due to its Deathtouch. Either slow down aggro or take down big creatures. dragon claw make this card incredible.
Elvish Mystic: For ramp, may reduce by one for another
Slyvan Caryatid
, Almost a dead draw in late game. Might reduce.
Sylvan Caryatid: Used for ramp and aggro blocker. Unforunately, can't afford more!
Crater's Claw: Never a dead draw. Applicable during all phases of the game. Rids of tokens and pushes for a finish.
Mid gameBoon Satyr: Can flash it in to take down creatures or flash bestow. Also triggers ferocious, however will die often due to 2 toughness. Play it on your opponents end step after they alpha strike.
Savage Knuckleblade
: Amazing card. Great body, has evasion, haste and pump. Just need to survive and stabilise with him.
Late game (when it gets real):
Dragon Grip
: Great card especially selected for flash and first strike onto Boon Satyr, Polukranos, World Eater and
Savage Knuckleblade
.
Polukranos, World Eater: Great 5/5 for 4CMC. Monstrosity is great to remove chump blockers.
Prophet of Kruphix: What makes this deck worth it. Get this out and it basically welcome to the end game with all the cards available to use during opponents turns. Play this then flash in
Surrak Dragonclaw
or
Savage Knuckleblade
. For now a 2 of, but may become a 3x.
Surrak Dragonclaw
: (Haven't tested him yet) The idea is to finish with Surrak as he will enter the field with at least a decent boardstate. Play this during your opponents turn after putting down a Prophet of Kruphix on the board would be the dream blocker. Giving trample to other creatures will help finish the game
Mana base: I'm unsure about mana base as I've never brewed a 3 colour deck. Suggestions?
Suggestions are very welcome as I don't know all the cards yet from Khans and M15. Also don't know how to distribute mana base between the three colours.
I understand I may be subjected to removal (Subborn denial and savage's bounce are my only counter) and top decking as I have no draw
