Temurpo Flex

Sideboard

Maybeboard

My take on Temur Tempo. The idea is for the deck to play an aggressive Temur deck with the flexibility to find ways to attack the face after the game is dragged into mid-range territory.

Right now it looks like it has enough evasion/disruption to handle midrange and enough help in the SB to take care of aggro post-board. Control probably stomps all over it's face though - I have no idea how to shore it up against Silumgar (either of them honestly).

Creatures:

Dragonlord Atarka

The best bomb in standard right now. We don't want to get to 7 mana but if we do, he's here to finish the job.

Heir of the Wilds

We don't have anything better to do with our mana on turn 2. No one wants to block him in the early game. Works as a wall in the late game against big ground guys. Could see this at 4-of but I don't know what to cut.

Managorger Hydra

Literally in the deck because I bid on them while brewing and ending up winning them for cheap. However, at 3-mana it can be fetched by Woodland Bellower (not that you'd want to). Not the worst 3CMC creature and it works nicely with our manabase.

Rattleclaw Mystic

Less ramp and more mana fixing on an aggressive body. Smooths out shaky starts with universal mana generation (unlike Beastcaller Savant) and can always swing in a pinch for 2 damage.

Savage Knuckleblade

Pretty much the reason people play Temur. Usually just a 4/4 for 3 but sometimes a 4/4 Haste for 4.

Skyrider Elf

The card that made be want to play Temur aside from new Kiora. Often overlooked for being plain. It's a 2/2 flier for 2. Which doesn't sound impressive until you realize it's often a 3/3 flier for 3 and occasionally bigger if we land Ally Encampment. It's basic evasive value.

Woodland Bellower

9 Toughness across 2 bodies for 6CMC. Just value, nothing special here.

Shaman of the Great HuntWas in the main where Managorger Hydra is. Got bumped to the side. In theory, it's hasty damage and card advantage. In practice, it's 4 mana for a creature that doesn't attack and puts counters on my Skyrider Elf . It has card advantage potential but at 4CMC you'll rarely have the ability to activate it to draw 1-2 cards.

However, the card shines against control where the haste is very relevant and the activated ability has much more value.

Gaea's Revenge Another anti-control card. One of the few cards that beats both Dragonlord Silumgar and Silumgar, the Drifting Death

Jaddi Offshoot

Anti-aggro defender.

Planeswalkers:

Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh

This card is great when you can go off but just meh every other time. It gets a one-of inclusive for that.

Nissa, Vastwood Seer

Before flipping it's a pretty average card. However, we're three colors so being able to fetch up a forest is pretty big for us. It also lends itself to being a handy removal magnet since if it is allowed to flip and persist we're probably going to win on card advantage.

Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker

No Hero's Downfall means that Sarkhan just got a new lease on life. As a 5 mana legendary though, we can't reasonably support more than one.

Kiora, Master of the Depths

Ramp and Dig in a pinch. Without a good 4 mana beater (Thunderbreak Regent loses a lot of punch without friends and Surrak, the Hunt Caller doesn't impact the board enough)

Instants/Sorceries:

Crater's Claws

Nothing new here, works as a solid finisher and bonus points if it can be used to cantrip Chandra

Exquisite Firecraft

The only burn spell worth a damn in Standard. We'll take it. Automatic 4-of.

Scatter to the Winds

Cancel. Awaken will never happen. If it does though, awesome. Spell Shrivel looks better for 3/5 match-ups. Originally planned to use Clash of Wills but then Spell Shrivel got spoiled and I was like why...there's a few bucks wasted.

Brutal Expulsion

Value Not-Quite-Removal. I read it as bounce target planeswalker and burn target Hangerback into Exile. Not bad.

Feed the Clan

Not much to explain except that Ferocious isn't guaranteed. 2 mana on a body generally nets you 4-5 life (burn to the face and a body swinging). Considering replacing these with Monastery Flock

Plummet

Mantis Rider and attacking Dragonlord Ojutai need answers. Rending Volley works here but Plummet also answers Butcher of the Horde and other non-blue/white fliers.

Radiant Flames

hangerback walker is everywhere. On the off chance it blows up, this helps take out the fodder. Radiant Flames also works well to burn out cheap sac outlets or elves. It's not Anger of the Gods but it's the best we got. We'll easily cast it for 2 damage and often for 3 damage.

Things I'm Considering:

Rending Volley Currently going with Plummet but reasons stated above but still a (albeit very narrow) good card.

Woodland Wanderer

I like value. This is a 5/5 for 4 with Vigilance and Trample. Currently on pre-sale for +$3 though so I'm like nah, I'll pass - it's not that good. This would be a different conversation at XGG or something like that.

Dig Through Time

I'm in blue and I'm not playing straight forward card advantage. I didn't want to spend for Dig unless it was really necessary. With Nissa and Kiora, I'm not sure it is.Torrent Elemental

Harbinger of the Tides

Woodland Bellower target? Flash bounce attacker? Doesn't seem quite good enough...

Displacement Wave

Sends all the tokens home. Bounces flipped Planeswalkers and morph/manifests
