Maybeboard

Have you ever wanted to be a bird? Have you ever wanted to be a bird that's part of a perpetual motion machine? No? Good, because you aren't that bird. Teshar, Ancestor's Apostle is. He's also the head of this mediocre combo deck. It's not that fast, it's not that resilient, and it's not that consistent. But by god, I came up with the combos myself when he was released, and that's enough for me to be invested in it. But enough background. Time to get to the actual deck.

Teshar is a very unique commander. He's the first mono-white reanimator commander, the first reasonably decent mono-white combo commander, one of the only mono-white artifact commanders, and the first commander of any color to reanimate on a trigger like this. This makes for an original playstyle, which is hard to replicate. It revolves mostly around using Teshar and creatures with ETB abilities to generate value until you can eventually combo off and win.
It goes like this. You need Teshar, a 0 cost artifact in your hand, a sac outlet, and a recurring card in your graveyard. For combos with all but one of those recurring cards (I'll get to that one later), it goes like this: you cast the 0 cost artifact, triggering Teshar, and targeting the recurring card. Then, you sacrifice the free artifact and then the recurring card. That card's death trigger will target the 0 cost, leaving you with the same board state you began with, barring one sacrifice and one storm count. You also need a payoff for this combo to do anything useful, but that'll be discussed later.
  • Memnite and Ornithopter : These two are listed together because they're functionally the same. They can be tutored by Ranger of Eos and Recruiter of the Guard , and they can be sacrificed to the creature only sac outlets. Otherwise not particularly interesting. Never cast them before Teshar.
  • Walking Ballista : Functions as both a combo piece (albeit one that doesn't work with Glint Hawk ) and an infinite mana payoff (or a payoff for Arcbound Ravager . It can also be tutored by the same things as the previous two cards, and has the same guidelines for casting. Unless you really need to deal one or two damage.
  • Everflowing Chalice :Usually play this on turn 2 as a mana rock. You'll need a sac outlet to combo off with this anyways, so it doesn't help much to save it for later.
  • Paradise Mantle : This is probably the worst free artifact in the deck. If you have a creature, you can turn it into a mana dork. That's about it. Play it if you can equip it to a creature before turn 3, otherwise save it for Teshar.
  • Lotus Petal : And this is the best free artifact in the deck! You can cast Teshar on turn 3. Because it sacs itself, you can combo off with a creature only sac outlet! Including Martyred Rusalka ! And with any other sac outlet, you can get infinite mana!
  • Urza's Bauble and Mishra's Bauble : These are basically the same card. The differences are the least important part of the cards. the only thing you need to know is that they sac themselves, and you draw a card (later). This means that you can combo off with a creature only sac outlet. Please note, however, that the card draw is not optional. If you use mill as a payoff for your combo, you'll deck out and die if you loop the combo more times than your deck can allow.
  • Myr Retriever , Junk Diver , and Workshop Assistant : Again, these are all the same. You can tutor them all up with Recruiter of the Guard , although if you do, get retriever first. It costs less and the stats and flying the other cards have don't matter.
  • Scrap Trawler : I barely know why I put this by itself. I only run 7 other artifacts that don't cost less. It's the same as the others most of the time. Triggering on other artifacts can occasionally be relevant, but only barely.
  • Glint Hawk : Now here's the unique combo piece. I'll just speed through the combo. It has the same prerequisites as the regular one, except you need a sac outlet for creatures, and a second free artifact. You cast one freebie, skipping the trigger. Then cast the other, returning glint hawk. Bounce the first one and sac the hawk. Recast it, returning the hawk, and repeat ad nauseum.
  • Altar of the Brood : This is mostly here because it's 1 mana. Just remember its triggers if you play it in the early game.
  • Aetherflux Reservoir : This is pretty expensive for a payoff, yes. 4 mana is a lot for this deck. But the important thing is that you can play it after starting your combo.
