The Best Spell is a Free Spell

Commander / EDH*

Seraphim755

After the fun time that was Nin-sane in the Membrane I decided that I needed a deck more in line with the Izzet philosophy. Drawing your entire deck is fun, sure, but it makes most games go the exact same way and that's a recipe for boredom. Fortunately, a few months wait gave us a new set of enemy color pair Commander decks including my new paramour: Mizzix of the Izmagnus.

The general consensus among my playgroup is that Mizzix is the most broken of the new Commanders, since casting four or so instants/sorceries of increasing cost renders the majority of the deck nearly free to cast. This gives you the freedom to wreak utter havoc with X cost spells. Got ten experience counters and a ton of mana lying around? Give Banefire a whirl. Do the same thing with Fall of the Titans .

My goal for this deck is to have it be mid-range U/R dealing mostly in instants and sorceries. What creatures I do add will be to either improve that (Archaeomancer, Charmbreaker Devils and so forth) or to give me a bit of protection from my enemies' creatures ( Utvara Hellkite , Talrand, Sky Summoner and so on).

As always, input is greatly appreciated. The stock version of this deck performs extremely well and I'm looking forward to seeing what it can do with some improvements. Thanks!
