This was originally an Innistrad BW Tokens deck. It has now been moved to the Modern format. It is somewhat modeled after Craig Wescoe's BW Tokens list that placed fifth in the 2013 MTG Modern World Championship.
What I think can help strengthen token decks like this is being extremely careful about the creature spells that you include. In this instance, I am running it WITHOUT the ever-so-common Tidehollow Sculler, and running Castigate instead. But why would you do this, you say? Sculler does the same thing and gives you a bear to boot! Well, when sculler gets taken out (and he will), the opponent naturally gets his spell back, and any tempo loss is corrected. Many people have played against sculler and also know how to handle him; mitigate any damage he can deal and take him out with say, a less optimal removal spell, and get your more optimal spell back.
With Castigate, you don't get a body, but the tradeoff is that their card is removed permanently. This makes all the difference in a token deck when that card was something like Maelstrom Pulse, Devastation Tide or Detention Sphere. Then, with their regular creature removal, they have no choice but to try and spot-kill each of your tokens. Imagine the opponent's anguish as he tries to bring down your hordes of angry spirits and soldiers with individual bolts, paths, and other spells. Using spot removal spells against individual token creatures is abundant CA in your favour.
Otherwise, this deck doesn't deviate too far from the regular BW Tokens formula. The land count might be a little ambitious at 22 without any draw. No fetchlands are featured because I am too poor for those. :(
I am very seriously considering bumping in the land count a bit and adding Elspeth, Sun's Champion. She would be amazing here.
Sorin, Lord of Innistrad
is cool but his tokens are black, and that doesn't help my BtE very much.
