You lika da wincons..we get you more wincons. Defense combo deck with lotsa wincons! Axebane Guardian is the core. It's all about finding him with Drift of Phantasms or Chord of Calling while dropping big butt defenders along the way. Plenty of hexproofs and indestructibles in the form of Ranger's Guile and Withstand Death should be in your hand for protection which can be swapped out in sideboard for some Negate if you come upon some smug controlling type. The Swiftfoot Boots provide hexproof and the quicker mana in the ramp (yes, lightning greaves are better but you go to war with the army you have...) A variety of infinite combo options live here which can all be retrieved with either Drift of Phantasms or Chord of Calling and you can even drift for chord if it comes to that (let's hope not). Axebane Guardian + Freed from the Real (need only 1 other defender) is the best and easiest combo but will work with Umbral Mantle or Galvanic Alchemist (need 4 defenders). Combo with Staff of Domination is glorious as long as there are 5 defenders. Once there is infinite mana, Phenax, God of Deception provides a mill kill and Devil's Play (yes, I know Banefire would be better) provides the burn kill.
"Wait, what about Assault Formation" you say? It's there. Great wincon for infinite mana allowing a beatdown with your Wall of Roots if need be. And if you don't go infinite, the big butts can dish out damage the old fashioned way with it. Though a but contrived, the infinite life combo exists in the form of an infinite axebane plus Tree of Redemption + Umbral Mantle . Anyway, it's there if you still can't get a kill card. I'd love to include Wall of Omens and Carven Caryatid for card draw as well as Grim Contest for removal but making 4 colors work without plenty of fetch land is tough. Love me some suggestions!
