Deck Description
I built this to see if it was possible to create a viable mill deck with common and uncommon cards from the current card series. To increase the threat of this deck, do the following:
- Replace the Balustrade Spies and Wights with the Consuming Aberrations and;
- Replace the Coerced Confessions with the Mind Grinds
How To Play This Deck
Mill early, and mill often! The key to this deck is leverage every opportunity to grind through the opponents deck without mercy. As you are doing this, keep count of the critters going into the graveyard, as these are going to buff the Wight of Precinct Six. Be sure to cipher
Paranoid Delusions
to the
Deathcult Rogue
to deal (generally) unblockable damage and mill your opponents deck for three cards.
The
Dimir Keyrune
also provides a way to deal critter damage when there is not enough mana to do anything else...in fact, you can even cipher a spell to the keyrune, and the imprinted effect will be available whenever it is made a critter (under the "encode" ruling - see rule 702.97c).
During my first playtest in a four-player free-for-all (with another Dimir Mill Deck - using Consuming Aberrations and
Mind Grind
s), the Psychic Spiral saved my bacon a number of times when milled by the other deck. When the other player's Consuming Aberration came out, it was a 66/66 critter!
Fortunately, I had a
Grisly Spectacle
ready to go, and was able to take said player out of the game (I do not plan on being that lucky the second time around!).
The idea is to keep my opponent on his heels, uncertain on how much of his library he will lose with next card I draw.
Notable Combos:1.
Keymaster Rogue
+ Balustrade Spy. Casting the Keymaster to bounce the Balustrade Spy back to your hand to be cast yet again for milling your opponent is priceless!
