The Double Edged Axe: My deck's story, and how it became the boogey man of my LGS

As a wee lad, my dream was to make a very strong, competitive combo oriented EDH deck. But as I grew, I realized that straight combo wasn't very fun for me. I needed ways to win, but I wanted consistency and the ability to win in other ways than just my combo. I scoured the web to try to find the perfect commander to fit this bill. I thought of Kruphix, God of Horizons, but he was too expensive and didn't seem fast enough for my store's meta. But then, I found her, and in the most unlikely of colors too. I found everything I had ever wanted in a commander with Selvala, Explorer Returned. She could be played as an elf-ball commander, my favorite tribe. She gains major card advantage through her REUSABLE tap ability, and can be activated more than once per turn in certain cases (Or roughly ten when you have a Paradox Engine on the field). She can be played as a group hug/stax commander, lending interaction to opponents all across the table. And her flavor, do not get me started on this wild mama's flavor. The Selesnyan colors are the perfect compliment to her ability, and the ability ties in so well with her art. This is where the double edged axe in the name comes from, as the axe Selvala wields is double pointed, referring to her ability to draw you into threats for your opponents, but it can also draw them into threats against you. I mean, the word parley quite literally means "To gamble." Plus, who can resist that big, oh-so boltable elf booty of her's? ;)

Her real claim to fame (or rather infamy) at my local card shop is how I was once able to mill a Phenax Wall mill player to death when he decided to get greedy and bogart all the Parley draws for himself with Notion Thief. I was able to make infinite mana/untaps with my Priest of Titania and Umbral Mantle, and I proceeded to go to town on this poor guy. The looks on everyone's faces were priceless! Other acts of awe this deck has performed is being able to win roughly on turn 3/4 with a god hand, but consistently on turns 5-7 with a decent hand.
