What is this deck? This is what you get if G/W Devotion/Aggro makes a baby with G/R Dragons, creating Naya Masyery.
Creatures
2x
Ashcloud Phoenix
On its own, it's an okay card but when you pair it with Deathmist Raptor it becomes insane. Whenever you flip a permanent face up Deathmist Raptor and come back into play, this Phoenix will come back into play morphed when it dies, allowing you to keep flipping it as needed and bringing back the Raptor.
3x Courser of Kruphix Provides a small amount of card advantage and life gain, also has a nice booty to block aggro creatures. Combined with Mastery of the Unseen you can play a land from the top of your deck and then if you don't like the next card, simply manifest it.
4x Deathmist Raptor Absolutely broken in Standard. Its on curve body, low casting cost and Deathtouch make it a pretty good creature, its recursion ability makes it insane. Whenever any permanent of yours is turned face up, you get to bring ALL of your Raptors (that are in the graveyard) back into play. Combine with Dromoka's Command and you just murder your opponent's field.
4x Den Protector Amazing with Deathmist Raptor, not only do you bring the Raptor back from the graveyard, you also get to bring any other card in your graveyard to your hand, also she can't be chump blocked.
1x Dragonlord Atarka Comes into play nuking creatures or Planeswalkers and it's an 8/8 flying trample. If not dealt with soon, it's GG.
1x Dragonlord Dromoka Has a nice body, evasion and lifelink so it's a great midrange card. The real value comes from it not being able to be countered and it stops your opponent from casting spells on your turn which messes up control decks.
4x Stormbreath Dragon Haste, evasion, pro white, what more could you ask for? Oh an ability that makes it bigger and deals direct damage, sounds good to me.
3x Sylvan Caryatid Provides ramp and mana fixing, also gives aggro a hard time.
4x
Thunderbreak Regent
Deals damage any time my opponent tries to target ANY of my dragons.
2x
Whisperwood Elemental
Gives me a manifest on each of my end steps, providing plenty of chances to flip cards over to bring back my Raptors, and in the event of a board wipe and I sacrifice it to make some of my creatures give me a manifest when they die.
Utility Cards
3x Dromoka's Command Basically a 2 drop kill spell that also gives a creature a +1/+1 counter if I have Deathmist Raptor out. Also can get rid of a pesky enchantment or prevent a burn spell from dealing damage.
3x Mastery of the Unseen Yo dawg I heard you like manifesting. Lets me manifest whenever I want and gains me plenty of life.
2x
Xenagos, the Reveler
Gives ramp, tokens, or possibly the top 6 cards of my deck.
Arbor Colossus
Helpful against all these dragons running around lately. I feel like my sideboard is fine without it though, and the triple green can make it hard to cast.
Draconic Roar
I have 10 dragons mainboard so it should be fairly likely that i'll have one in hand or in play, considering it for sideboard and it's good against any creature heavy deck, but mostly aggro.
U/R Burn/Control. Win 2-0, technically 3-0.
Game zero I mulliganned to 5, he went to 0 and conceded. I said we should just do game one over again as I just wanted to test out the deck.
Game one he kept a 5 mana hand and just kept drawing more, easy win. Game two was a little better for him but I just had too much going for me and he couldn't keep up with all my Manifesting.
U/R Aggro/Control/Dragons. Win 2-1.
Game one he got severely mana screwed, easy win. Game two he sided in
Encase in Ice
and just countered or froze the few things I played while beating me in the face with
Frost Walker
, it didn't help that I was getting mana flooded. Game three was really close for a while, He had Goblin Rabblemaster and Dragons, I had a Hornet Nest so he couldn't really do anything for a while, he eventually froze the nest and dropped a
Shaman of the Great Hunt
and was drawing 5 cards on activation. With the help of
Whisperwood Elemental
and a few hornet tokens I eventually overpowered him though.
Overall the deck played very well and managed to pull out of every tricky situation I found myself in.
B/G Morph. Lose 1-2.
Game one I got stuck on 3 lands and didn't even have double green so I couldn't play my Raptor or Courser, easy win for him. Game two I was able to hit my Courser then Thunderbreak then Dromoka in a row and he just couldn't deal with my dragons. Game three we were both able to get going, we both had Den Protector and Deathmist Raptor out, he was able to outpace me and also dropped a second Raptor on me, I couldn't keep both of them dead and he won, if I would've seen just one of the cards I sideboarded in the game would've gone completely differently. His deck was very interesting, he would put cards in his graveyard with Satyr Wayfinder or Commune with the Gods, hoping to put Raptors in there, then he could use Den Protector or
Silumgar Assassin
to kill my stuff or bring his stuff back and also bring back all his Raptors.
Aside from game one my deck performed okay, if I would've gotten a little better draws on game three I think I could've had him and on game two if it wasn't for my Dromoka he probably would've won.
Thanks for checking out the deck, comments and suggestions are appreciated and if you like the deck please leave a +1.
