Testing out a fun modern deck built around hasty big fatties and Collected Company . Hypothetically, this build can deal lethal by turn 4 if it is magical Christmas land. But seeing as we live in reality this wont happen very often. The idea here is that the opponent will have to choose to block with one of their creatures or take a large chunk of damage. More often than not my 2-3 drops will kill their larger creatures and thats ok with me! Odds are I will not be running this deck at an FNM or an actual event but on the off chance I do constructive feedback on how to optimize the deck are appreciated.

Instants

Collected Company : Go fetch two hasty big fatties and swing! GREAT value in this build. For 4 mana this instant can pull a combination of either Ball Lightning 's or Groundbreaker 's off of the top of my library and swing in for 12 damage. Such value!

Artifacts

Vivien's Arkbow : A new addition to this deck that gives it some good mid to late game capabilities.

Creatures

Ball Lightning : Hasty 6/1 for three mana with trample that is easily fetchable with Collected Company .

Birds of Paradise : Mana dork to ensure that there are enough lands to hit a collected company.

Boggart Ram-Gang : The fancy thing about this guy is that he will leave a mark on the bigger guy when he deals damage to them. Wither is pretty much infect as far as creatures as concerned. This gives the opponent a difficult decision where they can block and have their big creature get -3/-3 permanently or let him hit for 3.

Groundbreaker : Time shifted Ball Lightning . Same concept as its brother.

Hell's Thunder : The only flyer in this deck but for 3 mana this 4/4 packs a punch! His unearth is a great late game finisher.

Spark Elemental : Early game aggro!

Strangleroot Geist : Hasty 2 drop that comes back with a vengeance!

Hellspark Elemental : Early game aggro with unearth as an added bonus!

Lightning Skelemental : The new addition to the deck and now we have 12 x 6/1 hasty tramply balls of death. This one is particularly killer on turn 2.


Cards I will not add: Creatures without haste.

Just to clarify... I do not intend or running this deck at any FNM or modern event. Its just a side project of mine for some fun table top games with friends. With that being said we do tend to play like it is a real event most of the time lol. So I am trying to make the deck as good as possible but like I said, I will never be running it at an event so I do not need it to race twin or affinity. Anyways, I agree with what many people have been saying about Vexing Devil and I also agree with what the other side is saying. It is a good card but at the same time it is a bad card. Just for the sake of keeping with the "theme" of this deck I will be trying my best to keep my creature options hasty (besides the mana dorks that is). For the time being I will be testing out Strangleroot Geist as my two drop and I will see how that goes. Thanks to everyone for the help so far! Keep the suggestions coming!
