Based heavily on Tom Ross's Jund list from a couple months ago. (You can find his list here http://www.starcitygames.com/article/27920_Fear-The-Jund-Machine.html).This deck has threats, this deck has answers. It can draw cards, it can wipe out your opponent's hand. Courser of Kruphix is the life-gaining card-advantage engine that holds everything together. Let's take a look at some of the card choices.

Creatures

+Courser of Kruphix- arguably the most important card in this list. It allows you to hit your land drops, grab important spells faster, halt low drop aggro creatures- all while gaining you back life. Scry lands interact beautifully.
+Desecration Demon- hasn't yet ceased to be good. A big body for a low cmc that becomes a pain if not dealt with effectively. Great for applying pressure.
+Polukranos, World Eater- another fatty that can be a major pain for aggro decks.
+Reaper of the Wilds- a deathtouch, hexproof threat that scrys for you? Sounds good to me. It's not great to draw in multiples, hence only 1 copy.
+Scavenging Ooze- This guy can out of control with a graveyard full of creatures. Also, more life gain is always fun.
+Sylvan Caryatid- mana fixer, solid blocker, ramps beautifully into a huge Rakdos's Return, but we'll get to that later.

Spells

Removal

+Abrupt Decay- has gotten much better with release of Journey Into Nyx. It hits such a wide array of targets in the current meta, from Banishing Light to Courser of Kruphix to Underworld Connections.
+Golgari Charm- A very versatile tool for the deck. It hits a lot of the same enchantment targets as Abrupt Decay while also hitting Assemble the Legion. Not to mention, it can be a blowout when you regenerate your entire board after a Supreme Verdict, or when it wipes out all of Elspeth's tokens.
+Hero's Downfall- just as good as ever. Kills creatures and walkers with ease.
+Vraska the Unseen- She's a beauty. A high cmc is worth paying to remove just about anything you need. Empty board? Threaten her ultimate to put the game away.

Card Advantage

+Rakdos's Return- another centerpiece for the deck. Launching a Rakdos's Return for your opponent's entire hand can win the game by eliminating their options. Severely underplayed in the meta in my opinion.
+Thoughtseize- not sure this card needs much of an explanation. It still sits as one of the most powerful cards in standard. Great for this deck.
+Underworld Connections- the game-altering, card-drawing engine of choice against Mono-Black and control decks. Only a 1-of in the mainboard, but there are more in the sideboard.

Sideboard

+Dark Betrayal- more efficient creature removal against Mono-Black.
+Drown in Sorrow- these are new in the board, mostly in response to the aggro explosion in the current standard meta.
+Duress- great to side in against Mono-Black and control strategies.
+Golgari Charm- I usually side this one in against control variants, as it can be used both to take out Detention Sphere and protect my creatures from Supreme Verdict.
+Lifebane Zombie- great creature to side in against decks running green or white creatures (obviously). Snagging a Courser of Kruphix or a Blood Baron of Vizkopa is fantastic.
+Mizzium Mortars- They run Blood Baron of Vizkopa? I'm probably siding these in. It's a very difficult creature to deal with.
+Rakdos's Return- siding in an extra Return can make a huge difference in the match-ups against Mono-Black and control variants.
+Underworld Connections- In match-ups vs. Mono-Black this card is one of the most important tools to use. Side in more of these!

All in all this deck is extremely fun to play, and fares pretty well against a lot of decks in the meta, especially after sideboarding. Comments and suggestions are encouraged. Thanks for checking out The Jund Machine!
