My friend challenged our group to build EDH decks on MTGO. However there is one restriction: a 5 dollar budget. (Check MTGGOLDFISH for prices).

I decided to go with a Dralnu Zombie tribal that recurs both creatures and spells from the grave with ease.

The deck's key winning strategy revolves around filling the grave with Traumatize or Tunnel Vision then casting Zombie Apocalypse or Rise from the Tides to create a huge army of Zombies. If Noxious Ghoul is on the field for either of these plays (or enters with Zombie Apocalypse) then every non zombie creature should die. You also threaten to kill off your opponents with Gray Merchant of Asphodel in this scenario.

Other wise you can just use your zombie army (boosted by tribal lords) to overwhelm your enemies. Shepherd of Rot can help you get around troubling defenses, and even if they wipe out your army, cards like Vengeful Dead and Diregraf Captain can knock out an opponent in the process. All of this may sound like an iffy strategy, but you have plenty of counterspells to keep the effort in tact, and with Dralnu you can cast from the grave for multiple attempts if need be.

Currently I think I need to include more ramp, especially things I can play on the first few turns. It also could use a couple more zombies. Perhaps I should cut 1-2 counter spells, and 1-2 card draw/grave fillers to make room?
