Took this to FNM tonight (7th of July 2017) and it performed...interestingly. I think a big part of this deck is keeping the right hands and I'm still figuring out what those are. There are a few which seem keepable but I need to be more willing to pitch a bad hand.
Round 1 - Death's Shadow (1-2)
Took Game 1 on turn 5 with Marvel into Big Emrakul. Lost game 2 as he had 2 of his 3 board cards in his hand when I was trying to go off and I lost game 3 when he pulled 2 Death's Shadow out on Turn 2 and a third one for good measure on the next turn while rather successfully tanking his own life total.
Round 2 - Junk/Abzan (1-2)
Again we went to Game 3 on this one. Game 1 I spent some time dealing with unfriendly Goyfs before cracking Marvel on turn 6 and landing Ulamog. The next two games were kind of mana catastrophes although I should point out that in game 3 I fetched REALLY poorly and wasn't able to cast Verdict because of it.
Round 3 - Mono U Mill (2-0)
My opponent this round was a kitchen table player at one of his first tournaments. Good guy but not much of a challenge.
Round 4 - RG Tron (0-2)
This match is what makes me think this deck has potential. Game 1 I was on the draw and he had turn 3 tron followed by a Karn. Mana Leak ended up being quite useful but I couldn't find the energy and his onslaught didn't stop. I brought in 2 Beast Within and 3 Oblivion Ring for game 2 and managed to keep him off Tron for some time. Marveled out Little Emrakul and wasn't able to do much with his turn. I could have stopped him from using Sanctum of Ugin the next turn but didn't see the play that would have taken me there. He managed to get a Karn the next turn to exile my Emrakul which I then hit with a Beast Within. 2 turns later I oblivion ringed an Ugin that he had cast. I actually ended up using Beast Within on my o-ring so that I could cast my second Little Emrakul and annihilated his board with his turn (I managed to take him off tron both times I controlled his turn but he kept topdecking what he needed to get back on it). I also cast his Ulamog on his turn to take out his land and -X ugin to kill it. Next turn he swung with Ulamog and I was forced to Mill 20. Next turn I was able to get to 5 energy but Emrakul wasn't enough to kill him and I had 19 cards left in my library.
It was a really close game and while Tron gets there on Turn 3, I can explode on Turn 4 and end it. I just have to keep him off Karn, lol
