Sideboard

Rejoice, Esper players around the world. With allied fetches, Ameri - I mean, Jeskai has finally met its UWx match. The lack of mana fixing was the most severe obstacle on Esper Control's path to becoming a competitive modern deck; that is a problem of the past. This is a preliminary test; if anyone has suggestions, I am open.

Here's the rundown...

Snapcaster Mage: Do you need an explanation?

Mana Leak and Remand: Two versatile counterspells.

Path to Exile: One drop plow with a mediocre drawback? Looks like a winner to me!

Sphinx's Revelation: I will not let this card die, dammit. In all seriousness, a large revelation will often finish the game on the spot by crushing your opponent under sheer card advantage. Just saying that gave me chills of excitement.

Supreme Verdict: What's a control deck without wraths? An uncounterable sweeper is a force to be reckoned with.

Inquisition of Kozilek: One of the best reasons IMHO to move into Esper is hand disruption. Inquisition is a staple that I am more than happy to buy into.

Lingering Souls: The premier card vs. affinity and other fast aggro, and a clock later in the game.

Cryptic Command: Is there nothing this card can't do? A cryptic is rarely a dead draw, and can swing unfavorable board states back in your favor.

Hero's Downfall: Yes, it's a Theros card. I know. Just bear with me. This deck, while having little trouble with creatures, has precious few ways to kill planeswalkers. Downfall is an efficient way to dispatch an enemy walker without repercussions.

Liliana of the Veil:

A Bad Board Without Liliana:

Pulpit rock

A Bad Board With Liliana:

Pulpit rock

'Nuff said.

Go for the Throat: Cheap, efficient removal. Kill something, board it out against affinity, rinse, repeat.

Vendilion Clique: More hand disruption, and a potent threat afterward.

Thanks for looking! Rate and Comment, if you would like.
