The primary plan is to assemble infinite mana, then draw/mill our entire deck, and then use various abilites to find a way to win.

Since Trazyn has all activated abilities of artifacts in our graveyard, he can pair high mana generation with cheap untap effects leading to some interesting synergies. The following lists untap effects, followed by what cards generate infinite mana with them.

Using Pili-Pala/Farmstead Gleaner/Voltaic Construct to untap:

Note: If Pili-Pala is the untap effect, opponent's can't respond, as Pili-Pala's ability is a mana ability, and thus does not use the stack. This lets us generate infinite mana without worrying about interaction.


Chromatic Orrery and Staff of Domination are special artifacts effects because they act as big mana/untap effects while acting as a way to dig through our library



Chromatic Orrery

  • Tap Trazyn for .
  • Use an untap effect to untap him.
  • Repeat 1-2 to generate infinite
  • Activate Chromatic Orrery's second ability to draw a card.
  • Use an untap effect to untap Trazyn.
  • Repeat 4-5 to draw entire library


Staff of Domination

  • Tap Trazyn for + using a big mana ability.
  • Untap using Staff's ability.

Rules Note: Because this ability references the Staff by name, it can be shortened to "Untap this permanent", or untap the permanent that generated this ability. Thus when Trazyn uses it he'll be untapped

  • Repeat 1-2 to generate infinite
  • Use Staff's to draw a card.
  • Use Staff's to untap Trazyn.
  • Repeat to draw library
Now that we have infinite mana, lets do something with it. Generally this means milling/draw our entire library. Unless otherwise noted, this assumes the artifacts are in the graveyard.

How to Win

Once we have access to our entire library we can cast Walking Ballista (we still have infinite mana!) to ping everyone to death.

  • If it's countered, we just activate its abilities a bunch of times using Trazyn.

There are multiple lines that remove our library, or just outright win, and this walks through them in no particular order.

Note: Every time this references an untap effect, Pili-Pala is always the best one because its untap effect is a mana ability so opponents can't respond to it



Perpetual Timepiece

  • Tap Trazyn to mill a card.
  • Use some of the infinite mana to activate the untap effect, untapping Trazyn.
  • Repeat to mill whole library

Note: Perpetual Timepiece can go also infinite with Pili-Pala in the graveyard and Heartstone on the battlefield. Tap Trazyn to mill a card. Pay to activate the untap ability, generating a . Tap to mill a card. Spend the to untap, generating a . Repeat to mill library.



Mesmeric Orb

On the battlefield

  • In the process of generating infinite mana we'll mill our whole library along the way, as Trazyn activating an untap ability will trigger Orb


Chromatic Orrery / Staff of Domination

  • Using the lines noted above in the Infinite Mana section, draw your whole library.
  • Cast Walking Ballista for an arbitrarily large X value.
  • If countered, activate its abilities using Trazyn


Buried Alive

General Line 1

  • Tutor Palladium Myr + Farmstead Gleaner + Walking Ballista/Triskelion
  • Alternate Palladium Myr + Farmstead for infinite +1/+1 counters.
  • Remove all the counters with Walking Ballista/Triskelion to deal infinite damage
  • If an opponent tries to respond in the middle of steps 2 or 3, then just activate again immediately and keep going.


Buried Alive

General Line 2

  • Tutor Phyrexian Devourer and Walking Ballista/Triskelion. The third card is unnecessary, though something like Patchwork Gnomes provides protection
  • Activate Phyrexian Devourer, exiling the top card. Counters may be added to Trazyn
  • Remove these counters using Walking Ballista
  • Repeat for damage equal to the mana value of cards left in your library

Note: As this is not deterministically lethal, General Line 1 is usually better. But this is an option

If you have just one artifact in hand you may need to grab Farmstead Gleaner or Pili-Pala as the untap effect.

  • Generate infinite mana by alternating revealing 2+ artifacts to Metalworker's ability and activating the untap effect
  • Activate Ballista's ability until there are an arbitrarily large amount counters on Trazyn

If you Buried Alive Farmstead Gleaner then this step isn't needed

  • Using Ballista remove +1/+1 counters until every opponent is dead
