Artifact (1)

Her Eminence, Inalla, Archmage Ritualist, has arrived! Wizards shall enter the fray, copy themselves, sacrifice each other, flicker in and out, dig for cards, then return from the grave to do it all again!

This deck is obviously built around Inalla, Archmage Ritualist and her Eminence ability. Except for her, Azami, Lady of Scrolls, Venser, Shaper Savant, and Taigam, Sidisi's Hand I removed the legendary wizards like Arcanis the Omnipotent or Vela the Night-Clad from the precon deck. While they are powerful, all but one exemplar will be put into your graveyard as a state-based action if you copy them. Only with Venser, Shaper Savant you can take advantage of that, because you still get the ETB trigger from the copy which you can use to return him to your hand. A reusable Remand if you want.

Apart from this, most of the wizards have abilities that get simply better by paying that for your commander's ability: Disciple of Bolas draws at least four cards and nets four life for five mana, Sidisi's Faithful can bounce up to two creatures for , Azami, Lady of Scrolls simply loves more wizards to tap, and so on. Since several cards care about creatures dying (Vindictive Lich is my favourite), I included several sacrifice outlets. With 14 Human creatures Xathrid Necromancer might also be worthwhile but needs some testing.

Brute force

Comet Storm to the face. Not very subtle, but it often works in the late game when life totals are low.

Ritual

Keep Inalla and at least four other wizards on the battlefield and let your commander do her job. Honestly, I doubt that this will ever happen but you never know. Maybe there is a combo around Faces of the Past or Intruder Alarm to abuse the tap/untap triggers and drain your opponents in one or two rounds. You are much more likely to win via one of the combos belows.

Infinite flicker

Combo out with Ghostly Flicker, Dualcaster Mage, and Inalla, Archmage Ritualist for infinite mana of any color and infinite hasty wizards. You will need + + = .

  1. Cast Ghostly Flicker targeting whatever you want.
  2. Respond with Dualcaster Mage.
  3. Let the mage hit the battlefield.
  4. You get both its own and Inalla's ETB effect. Put Inalla, Archmage Ritualist's trigger on the stack first and then copy Ghostly Flicker targeting Dualcaster Mage and a land that enters the battlefield untapped.
  5. Wait for Ghostly Flicker to resolve, then tap the now untapped land for mana.
  6. Repeat steps 3 to 5 as long as you want.
  7. Let all the copies of Dualcaster Mage resolve. While they all have to copy Ghostly Flicker again, you can simply target your lands to generate infinite mana.
  8. Overrun your opponents.
Of course you can also interchange the order in which to resolve the copied Dualcaster Mages and Ghostly Flickers. You just need to change the targets. Or you can go wild and resolve them crisscrossed if you really want to make your head spin.

Infinite reanimation

Combo out with bloodline necromancer , Ashnod's Altar, and Inalla, Archmage Ritualist for infinite colorless mana, infinite hasty wizards and any number of wizards from your graveyard on the battlefield. You will need Ashnod's Altar on the battlefield and .

  1. With Ashnod's Altar out, cast bloodline necromancer .
  2. Let the necromancer hit the battlefield.
  3. Put Inalla's trigger on the stack first and then its own ETB effect.
  4. Let its reanimation effect resolve but respond to the copy ability on the stack by sacrificing the necromancer to Ashnod's Altar.
  5. Use the from the altar to pay for Inalla's ability.
  6. Reanimate the Necromancer with the token's ETB effect.
  7. Repeat steps 3 to 6 as many times as you want.
  8. Overrun your opponents.

If you want to make the stack more complicated, use the additional mana from the altar to make copies of any wizards that are brought back by the original necromancer's triggers. Note that this combo works with the graveyard, so Rest in Peace, Leyline of the Void, and the like will shut it down.

The best wizards won't last long without some spell support and other tricks although in many cases your wizards play like spells which leave a body behind to block.

Diabolic Tutor, Vedalken AEthermage and Trophy Mage can tutor for combo pieces, while sweepers like Kindred Dominance ensure you live long enough.

Dreadbore, Reality Shift deal with opposing creatures, Counterspell and Arcane Denial with spells. Artifacts and enchantments are notoriously hard to deal with in Grixis colors but Chaos Warp, Vandalblast, and Into the Roil do a good job at answering them. With Archaeomancer, Victimize, or the like all those tricks do double duty.

Card advantage is also important. Even simple spells like Read the Bones or Opportunity help refill your hand. If nothing else helps, go with Dragon Mage and hit someone with the copy for a Wheel of Fortune effect.

Finally, your opponents might provide the tools for victory themselves. Most of the time you don't even need something as magnificent as Spelltwine for e.g. Rise of the Dark Realms and Kindred Dominance.

If you suggest cards for the deck, please also suggest which cards they should replace. I always find dozens of cards I want to include but cutting cards is much harder.

Best regards
