Mechanics
The mechanic of this deck is to exploit the landfall abilities of certain creatures like
Lotus Cobra
,
Rampaging Baloths
, but mostly using the combo of
Ob Nixilis, the Fallen
+
Primeval Titan
+
Boros Garrison
+
Slayers' Stronghold
in order to finish your opponent on turn 4.
What to play each turn
Turn 1: On turn one you have many choices of things to play. You can either play a
Thoughtseize
, a
Birds of Paradise
or even an
Amulet of Vigor
. This depends the deck you're playing against.
Turn 2: On turn 2, if
Birds of Paradise
is on the battlefield, before playing your land,
Lotus Cobra
can be casted for 2 mana. Playing the land with
Lotus Cobra
on the battlefield will allow you to have 2 additional mana which can be used to play
Thoughtseize
and
Inquisition of Kozilek
or
Amulet of Vigor
.
Turn 3: On this turn you want to play a fetch land like
Verdant Catacombs
,
Evolving Wilds
or
Terramorphic Expanse
. This will allow you to have 2 lands to enter the battlefield triggering
Lotus Cobra
two times resulting in having 5 mana in the mana pool to cast
Ob Nixilis, the Fallen
. It is important that you make sure that the opponent has no removal before casting it because if it survives your opponents next turn, you win on turn 4.
Turn 4: On this turn by just playing 1 land, you have enough mana to cast
Primeval Titan
. When it enters the battlefield, you need to search for
Boros Garrison
+
Slayers' Stronghold
.
Boros Garrison
will untap because of
Amulet of Vigor
and you will be able to give haste to
Primeval Titan
. This will allow you to attack a search for 2 more lands (fetch lands) which will allow you to get another 2 lands.
So if we do the math, on turn 4 you play 1 land, then play
Primeval Titan
(2 more lands) and attack with it (2 fetch lands) and then sacrifice the fetch lands for 2 more lands. In total on this turn we played 7 lands resulting in 21 damage caused by the ability of
Ob Nixilis, the Fallen
.
I've also put another win condition with
Rampaging Baloths
which will allow you to have many 4/4 beast token. I've also put removal like
Abrupt Decay
and
Damnation
which is in the sideboard if everything does not go as planned.
In the sideboard I included some ideas of things to put in but I didn't go through all the options. I want this deck to be really competitive while at the same time being unique. Any suggestions will be truly appreciated.
