There is no truth! - Sharuum the Hegemon EDH

Commander / EDH Combo Control Multiplayer WUB (Esper)

There are various eyes. Even the Sphinx has eyes: and as a result there are various truths, and as a result there is no truth. - Friedrich Nietzsche

The main idea of this deck is to always have a plan B, while at the same time reducing the possible answeres of your opponents. But lets have a look at the deck in some detail:

Set up:

The Manabase is pretty balanced and tries to cover more functionality than just providing the needed mana. Some ideas, which might not be that obvious, were things like Azorius Chancery+ Land Tax or Orzhov Basilica+Thespian's Stage. Mana rocks are there to keep me from falling behind and to solve my late game mana issues.

Carddraw is secured through Rhystic Study , Sphinx of Uthuun and Consecrated Sphinx later on.

To draw specific cards earlier in the game or in critical situations, the deck also contains some tutoring with Demonic Tutor, Diabolic Tutor, Fabricate, Tolaria West, Academy Rector, Sphinx Summoner , Trinket Mage and Treasure Mage.

To retrieve important tutors, removal or combo pieces from the graveyard, it runs Archaeomancer, Sun Titan, Elixir of Immortality and of course Sharuum the Hegemon.

All of them can also be bounced via Temporal Adept or Capsize.

Because the deck runs many large creatures and artifacts, to control the battlefield and crush the opponents, it also runs Quicksilver Amulet and Master Transmuter to get them out faster.

To get going and avoid early aggression Peacekeeper and Energy Field come in handy.

The deck also contains a few combos, like Skullclamp + Sword of the Meek + Thopter Foundry , Energy Field + Rest in Peace , Condemn, Spell Crumple or Hinder + Tunnel Vision , Kormus Bell + Linvala, Keeper of Silence + Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth and Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite + Kormus Bell + Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth .

...and a very synergetic artifact theme featuring Mycosynth Lattice + Sen Triplets , Memnarch + Mycosynth Lattice , Mycosynth Lattice + Shimmer Myr , Mycosynth Lattice + Unwinding Clock , Leonin Abunas, Darksteel Forge, Platinum Angel , ...

Answeres:

Single threats can be eliminated through spot removal like Condemn, Return to Dust , Strip Mine , Praetor's Grasp (which also functions as a tutor) and Utter End, countered through Desertion, Hinder and Spell Crumple or bounced via Temporal Adept .

If nothing else helps I also run a few boardwipes like Cyclonic Rift, Austere Command or Phyrexian Rebirth .

While selecting those cards I tried to pick wipes and counters that on the one hand did not hurt me (because of Darksteel Forge or Avacyn, Angel of Hope) and on the other serve are versatile (like giving me an enormous creature or having different targeting options). Puting a commander under its owners deck instead of sending it to the command zone can also come in pretty handy at times.

To cope with reanimators the deck runs Bojuka Bog, Angel of Jubilation and Rest in Peace. Against discard or massive card draw Library of Leng and Reliquary Tower and against some removal Riptide Laboratory.

The rest of the deck consists mostly of controlish creatures which pose individual challenges and fit with the overall theme.

Annotations:

Phew, that became longer than intended... If you have any feedback or suggestions post them below, please. I also added some cards I played in the past or I'm still Pondering to the Maybeboard. Perhaps it gives you some additional inspiration.
