This Party Sucks (literally!)

Legacy BR (Rakdos) Tokens Vampires

positivity-snail

Crimson Vow is one of my favorite sets in like, all of MTG; 'doomed vampire wedding' as a concept is so camp, and I love it to (un)death!

This is a pretty basic tribal/kindred deck. It revolves mostly around generating blood tokens and then buffing the everloving hell out of your vampires with it. Pretty much every spell creates blood tokens, benefits from their sacrifice, or both. Love me some flavor :)

Guests of Honor Cards I based the deck around

Olivia, Mobilized for War: The bride herself! I was inspired to make this deck because of her Secret Lair art, because, like... wow. Livia Prima killed it. Also, Sorin brooding in the background is a little funny. Anyways, on a mechanical level, her buffing capability is fantastic—and discarding is a negligible cost given the amount of drawing the blood tokens are presumably providing.

Olivia's Attendants: The bridesmaids! Probably. Maybe they're just there for menial labor. Unclear. In any case, this card is a beast, probably even moreso than Olivia herself. It can generate up to 7 blood tokens a turn—more if you buff its power!—and it can deal indirect damage without tapping, and it has menace? Olivia has good friends/indentured servants.

Anje, Maid of Dishonor: While a lot of the cards in this deck are pretty bombastic, Anje is a great source of slow, continuous life drain. Unless, of course, you have the resources to do 20 damage in a single turn. She's got the range. Also, I'm kind of obsessed with the fact that she hates Olivia's guts but still has to go along with being her maid of honor. I love when political intrigue is also just extremely petty.

Glass-Cast Heart: In addition to giving major Curse of Strahd vibes, this creepy little artifact can be a win condition if you only have one opponent/if only one opponent is left. Since it's almost never going to be your only source of blood tokens, it's pretty easy to accumulate 13 of them.

Guests of... hey who let these guys in here? Non-vampire non-blood cards that add a little spice

Goremand and Voracious Fell Beast: Big fliers who are also real hungry. For blood, probably? They're still thematic, I promise. This deck actually has a low amount of fliers for a vampire deck, so I threw these fellas in for a little more arial defense. Maybe they hang outside the castle while the wedding is happening and pretend to be gargoyles or something. Besties.

Undying Malice and Howl from Beyond: A little surprise buffing. A vampire that won't go down from a stake, and an ominous howl echoing through the halls. It's probably Arlinn. Let her have a little showmanship.

Leyline of the Void, Lightning Bolt, Rending Flame, and Parasitic Grasp: Some much-needed removal in such a creature-heavy deck. A gothic chandelier, a dramatic crack of thunder, a funeral pyre, and literally just a vampire bite.

So, yeah! I think literally every other card in this deck is vampire- or blood-related... maybe I went a little overboard. Well, Courier Bat technically isn't, but he's the one delivering the invitations, so it would be rude not to invite him, too. While I'm considering a few tweaks (I would love to add the groom himself, Edgar Markov, but I cannot afford him...), I'm really happy with how this deck plays. Maybe I can finally stop hunting down vampire cards...

Anyways, thanks for giving this deck a look. If you have any suggestions, I'd be happy to hear them! Unless they're about the title. That pun is not going anywhere ;)
