Theory

Thrasios Paradox Scepter is a deck that utilities efficient pieces of interaction and filtering that are also parts of the deck's win conditions. This leads to a deck that is as close to 'all action' that you can get. For example, a lot of Isochron Scepter decks run Aetherflux Reservoir as an outlet once they have managed to generate infinite mana. This is a very good 2 card combo, as once you have mana Thrasios, Triton Hero will get you to any card in your deck. However, this deck eschews explicit win conditions as they are often dead in hand the later the game goes.

How to win

  • Getting There

Ad Nauseam - put most of your deck into your hand. Due to the number of mana dorks this deck runs to make the best use of Tymna, it's recommended to do this on someone's end step rather than during your main phase, unless you have enough guaranteed mana to carry on.

Mystic Remora , Sylvan Library , Necropotence , Tymna the Weaver - These cards, among others, are static draw engines, allowing you to draw a large number of cards, getting you to tutors or combo pieces.

Dramatic Revesal + Isochron Scepter is our namesake method of creating infinite mana. We use Thrasios in the command zone to put our deck into our hand. We can also replace Thrasios with Sensei's Divining Top for the same effect.

Paradox Engine + Sensei's Divining Top with 5 untappable mana combos with thrasios to draw through your entire deck.

  • Execution

So we've got all of our cards or infinite mana etc etc. How do we win?

    BIRDS

Cast an overloaded Cyclonic Rift , get rid of your opponents' permanents. Then, using your dramatic scepter, cast Copy Artifact and imprint Swan Song . Infinite swans, pass the turn with interaction and swing in with birbs. This is fairly fragile, but there are ways to help it land.

Notion Thief + Windfall empties the hands of your opponents, reducing the likelihood of your birds dying.

    LOOPS

Traditional loops are performed with Timetwister , often with a Notion Thief in play so opponents don't draw into any interaction. In lieu of being able to afford a timetwister, I'm using Memory's Journey . Journey, in combination with Noxious Revival and Regrowth enables us to infinitely loop any spell in our deck. With a Narset's Reversal on our Isochron Scepter, we can loop any 2 spells in our deck. This enables a lot of shenanigans, including destroying all permanents in play with Assassin's Trophy or gaining infinite life with Nature's Claim and any artifact, which is useful if you have to pass turn after Ad Nauseam + Angel's Grace without a strict win.

    OTHER

Winds of Rebuke on a scepter (or reversal on a scepter with winds in hand) combos with Mana Crypt to mill everyone at the table out. Be wary of The Gitrog Monster players, as their Kozilek, Butcher of Truth will give you a headache.

WAR considerations

Narset's Reversal has instantly made it into the deck. I chose to remove Delay to fit it in.

Ashiok, Dream Render is insane, and is one of the only ways this deck has of attacking a graveyard. I am considering what to replace in space for Ashiok. Currently Notion Thief is at the top of my list as it reduces the Deck's CMC and they both prevent extra draws.

Narset, Parter of Veils is mostly a meta call imo. I wouldn't play it in a blind list, however if I were consistently against Remora decks, I would play Narset.

Dovin's Veto is tossling with Negate . White isn't the most important colour in the deck and when comboing off we are only going to use our cheapest/easiest to cast protection, ala Pact or Force.
