Notable Interactions:

Trostani + Darien = A variation on the old Darien/Soul Warden combo. Take damage, Darien makes soldiers, you gain that life back. Makes for a pretty brutal pillow fort.

Trostani + Ajani = While his -1 is useful to tokens, it's the ultimate where Ajani shines here. Let's say you have... 11 life, as an example. You put the Avatar into play, gain 11 life. You now have 22 life and a 22/22. Now populate. 44 life and two 44/44s. So forth, so on.

Trostani + Phyrexian Processor = Pay 39+ life, why not? You'll immediately gain it all back when you make the Minion.

Populate + Mimic Vat = Unlike Minion Reflector, Mimic Vat exiles the tokens it makes itself, which means if you populate a Mimic Vat token, the copy sticks around. Handy if you want, I dunno, a Wurmcoil Engine every turn.

Other Cards to Note:

Rings of Brighthearth gives me an extra Populate in a worst-case scenario, but it can also get me a double-activation of Rhys or Ajani, plus a couple other smaller interactions.

Spawning Pit is mostly there to protect from theft/tuck effects, but it's also pretty decent wrath insurance.

Nacatl War-Pride can gain tons of life with Trostani on the board, and since a populated copy token will stick around after combat is over, he's incredibly hard to get rid of.
