First of all, I should thank J. Hoogland for inspiring me to build this deck.
SInce Khans of tarkir, Abzan decks have been ruling the standard format. While it's not impossible to win against Abzan, few decks can compete against them (RDW being one of them). However, RDW are already played a lot too, so let's be a little bit original and add some colors : Here's a possible variation with mardu colors.
I think this deck could perform well against Abzan and Esper dragons, and uses one of my favourite cards of fate reforged :
Soulfire Grand Master
. That girl is nowhere to be seen in competitive decks, but her lifelink capacity is interesting, though. Basically, lifegain is an important part of this deck since it will allow the player to stay alive longer and burn your opponent till the bitter end. What you''ll want to do (depending on what deck you're playing against) is either burn quickly your opponent, or destroying one by one all the creatures of your opponent while striking with your tiny ones.
Let's review the cards :
Monastery Swiftspear : A must-have in any aggro deck that plays red. One-drop, haste, and prowess which is essential in a instant-heavy deck
Seeker of the Way
: Prowess too, and lifelink.
Goblin Rabblemaster : Good for board presence.
Soulfire Grand Master
: Combined with all the instant and sorcery spells, she can prove her efficiency.
As for the instant, all classics : Lightning Strike,
Wild Slash
and
Stoke the Flames
are well known enough by RDW players.Crackling Doom is one of my favorite card too because it burns AND force your opponent to sacrifice his most powerful creature.
I'm still hesitant with
Magma Jet
, considered replacing them by two more
Wild Slash
but scry has always been useful so far.
The only enchantment here :
Outpost Siege
. 3 of that one, mainly for his Khan capacity. His purpose is to allow you to accelerate the burn process on the late game by virtually picking one more card each turn.
As for this deck weaknesses : Lifelink from an opponent (basically, Whip of Erebos could make the matchup very difficult). Drown in Sorrow and Anger of the Gods wipe your complete board, too. Good thing is, all these cards are rotating in october.
How do you think I can improve this deck and make it more polyvalent ? I just don't want to lose on a
Siege Rhino
again, and while I do have an Abzan deck too, I'd like to add a little diversity in my Meta.
I'd gladly accept your enlightened advices !! Thanks in advance
