Modern Devotion Mono-Black

When I started playing magic, the first deck I ever toiled over building and confidently took to the LGS was RTR-THS Mono Black Devotion. I had been playing for a couple months and thought I would do ok, if not win the whole event. After all, I am an intelligent adult, and I net decked a bit to make sure I was on the right track, so with a spring in my step and false hope in my head, I assumed it would be easy pickings. It was a Standard Gameday event. I got absolutely, positively crushed and summarily dismissed back to my car. I sat there in the dark, 0-5, spinning, and wondering what the heck even just happened.

Ever since, MBD has been one of my pet decks and remained on my mind, I find it only fitting that it's the first proper Modern deck I build as well. This is my take on the "powered up" version of the deck that got me stoked on mtg in the first place. No sideboard yet because I haven't played in my LGS meta and have no real idea about what decks even exist. Very open to suggestions, as I am a modern format noob.
