So I am building a fairly expensive control deck, and while I am gathering all of those cards, I needed a deck to play with the cards I had. Tom Ross is a RDW developer, and I have been following him for a little while now. So I looked up his old deck list, and compared to what I had available.
Goblin Rabblemaster is a bomb card. I had one copy, so I borrowed three. It is a disgusting card, and if you're not playing it...you're wrong. I traded for one during the night, and then when I won my store credit(4-0), I bought one from the case. Now I have three!!
Now for the cards I actually had in hand:
Satyr Hoplite
consistently turned into the biggest body on the field. Plus a had a foil one...best reason to use it right there!
Akroan Crusader
was a beast as well. 8 damage on turn two during the last match against mono green! I had a single foil one of these too!
Foundry Street Denizen
got quite the attack power with all of our tokens being produced from Rabblemaster and the Crusader
Valley Dasher was a hero for me at pre release, so I stuck with my gut and included him here. The 2/2 body was surprisingly durable, and the haste was a lifesaver.
Mogis's Warhound
was never played as a creature. It worked perfectly on triggering heroic from my satyr and crusader, and made Rabblemaster a giant!
Arena Athlete
was the first to be cut down to a 2 of as soon as i needed to make room. He was decent when I drew him, but wasn't essential to winning.
Titan's Strength is an outstanding card no matter what deck it's in. ONE mana for a huge body is awesome. Plus the scry was invaluable in this deck.
Coordinated Assault
was a great trigger for heroic, and the first strike it also gave was important for creatures with such consistently small toughness.
Hall of Triumph
....I included a one of, and never drew it. BUT if i did! It could've been nasty.
Magma Jet is one of the reds I use the most. Two damage was enough to remove some blockers, or ping for life total. The scry two is phenomenal!
Now for the card I had a million copies of, but never thought to play it....
Inferno Fist
Triggered heroic, sure. Gave +2/+0, great. But the best part about this card is definitely the sac ability. It was the best surprise I had most of the night.
Although this list is exceedingly simple, and cheap(sans Rabblemaster]] )it played so well I'm keeping it around for the long haul! I'll alternate it with my new Sultai control, and in the next few weeks, I'll be tinkering with this list and foiling it all out.
Hope you enjoy!
