Predator Ooze + Tower Above = Om nom nom!

I missed Dungrove Elder and Vines of Vastwood , too, so I dusted 'em off and built this deck.

Lots of elves to ensure you get a three-drop on turn two, or a Rancored Strangleroot Geist .

Revenge of the Hunted is so ridiculous. Sacrificing a little consistency for a lot of power, I run four. It synergizes well with the elves, too--Miracle onto them, or tap them to hard-cast it.

Went 3-1 in Modern tourney — Jan. 8, 2013

Just went 3-1 at a Modern tourney, not bad for first night out w/this deck.

Round 1: Lost hard to a Cranial Plating artifact deck. Time to consider running artifact hate, possibly even mainboard. Naturalize just doesn't do enough. Creeping Corrosion on the other hand...

Round 2: Went 2-1 against a Spellbinder / Savage Beating combo deck. Was too fast for them, though I lucked out in getting to play first in the games I won.

Round 3: Stomped a Tarmogoyf deck, all of whose removal targeted and/or destroyed creatures. Predator Ooze and Dungrove Elder were made to counter this deck.

Round 4: Beat up a Sharuum the Hegemon / Disciple of the Vault deck before it could go off. This time Prey Upon worked well as I was able to keep their board pretty clear.

Overall, was pleased. Still not sure what this deck would do against Storm (the deck that took first place, naturally, though we never played). Maybe a couple Witchbane Orb in the board?

It looks like Revenge of the Hunted is essential in such a fast format. Prey Upon is too hit or miss, I'd rather swing with a lure+pump combo like Revenge or Tower Above.
