Someone getting back into Magic after a long while. To give you an idea of what I mean, most of my collection is in 3rd edition cards and the last expansion I remember is Mirage). ;) I am searching more for a deck that will allow me to laugh manically when I unleash hell on my opponent more than the definitive deck, even if I still pretend this to be competitive. :P

Casual Red burn deck + creatures that have either abilities to take advantage of the fast burn (Grim Lavamancer) or that trample and so have the potential to score damage even if blocked (they are basically more lightning bolts).

I am trying to keep it relatively cheap to build ( I already have a few of those, including the Wheel of Fortune, Blood Moon or Blood Lust , even if finally I didn't include them). This is why I have decided to ignore Lava Spike or Magma Jet, for example, even if I do not discard them right away. Suggestions welcome.

(A side note on the Lightning Serpent : Maybe I am weird, but I am seeing it as a 2 damage spell for 1 mana (same as Shock), and later on in the game it can be boosted (hopefully) in case I need some kick or have nothing better to do with the mana during that turn. A "Fireball" creature by any other name, basically). I have had quite some success with this card in the online playtests using the simulator. Seems that the deck is a fairly consistent 5 turn deck.

Tested it again. Extremely effective deck. However, lack of staying power is a total downfall if the enemy manages to deploy large creatures before you put him really down in life points. The beating rapidly accumulates oncde your original hand is gone and your damage becomes a trickle instead of a firestorm of destruction unleashed every turn. Somwe more stable creatures would be really appreciated. Molten Influence could be a good card to add to the deck as well. A burning counter is never amiss.
