Maybeboard

A revision on my old Izzet deck. Now that Curiosity, Hellrider , Talrand, Sky Summoner and some other staples have rotated out, I've had to find a way to reconstruct my favorite control/burn deck. Luckily, M14 and Theros have brought a whole bunch of goodies to the table, especially with the Magma Jet reprint and the functional reprint of Searing Spear, Lightning Strike. Goblin Electromancer reprises his spot-light role as the cost-lowering guru of my instants and sorceries, allowing me to cast many per turn and reach overload costs more easily. Guttersnipe just sits there and looks... ugly... doing his job with triggered damage. Turn & Burn helps me get rid of fatties and can also deal finishing damage if necessary. Plus, it triggers Young Pyromancer twice!! Ogre Battlemaster has great synergy with Young Pyromancer and helps me make my little elementals true board threats when they come into play. Mizzium Mortars can act as spot removal or a one-sided wipe against more early-to-mid-range decks. Divination provides much-needed card advantage, though I find myself missing Think Twice . Ral Zarek provides additional board control, extra mana, or just a big target for my opponents while I hit them. Cyclonic Rift might be my favorite card in the deck-it has some of the best board control abilities of any card in standard right now, circumventing +1/+1s, Monstrosity, Hexproof, Auras, etc., all while giving me a clear shot at my opponent the next turn. Teleportal and Dragonshift make my field evasive for the turn if I need a kill-shot and the shift can also give me surprise blockers if needed. Finally, the signature card of this deck, Epic Experiment, is here as a single. With electromancers and snipes on the field, it often works as an effective finisher.

Comments and suggestions are always welcome--I always strive to improve my decks!! Thanks :)

Updates Add

So I went to a semi-local card shop today with a few friends to enter Magic Game Day. Clearly I do not spend enough money on my decks to have them be competitive, which is a bit disheartening. I lost 0-2 in the first round to a B/W/G flicker life gain deck with a lot of flyers, and 0-2 in the second round to a R/B aggro. I had to leave after that, but I got some decent feedback. I'll keep trying to perfect this deck.
