Maybeboard

The deck is played in casual, Multiplayer environment, which means we don't follow banlists too strictly - but also avoid the most broken cards. Gameplan revolves around Thing in the Ice  which we try to find and transform as early as possible. Awoken Horror stabilizes the board and serves as primary wincon, especially followed with mass cloning (Rite of Replication) or extra turns (Walk the Aeons). In case we draw the "wrong half" of the deck, there are also Docent of Perfection  and Talrand, Sky Summoner available as secondary wincons.

Maybeboard section shows a number of cards on my radar, but most of them haven't been tested yet.

Things worth pointing out:

  • cheap draw spells are very potent once we have our engines on board. In case we don't find relevant creatures during first 4-5 turns, Dig Through Time should fix it and secure draw spells for later

  • Opt, Preordain and Impulse put unwanted junk on the bottom, so it's best to avoid shuffle effects

  • Archaeomancer is very valuable thanks to Enter the battlefield effect, pairing nicely with mass bounce

  • Mission Briefing and Mystic Sanctuary provide even more recursion. The former is especially good for its instant speed and Surveil mechanic, either fueling Delve spells or setting up the graveyard for later

  • kicked Rite of Replication can definitely end games, if your opponents let you have it. Imagine six copies of Final Iteration spawning 13/7 Wizard tokens with every Opt and Preordain, topped off with time walk. That's the kind of endgame we're shooting for

  • permission spells are necessary evil in Multiplayer. If we are to play them, mana cost is just perfect since we can alternate between casting Negate and charging up Mage-Ring Network according to our needs

Surviving the early game and answering Thing in the Ice   hate are main concerns at the moment. I find the deck quite consistent, it has excellent draws and flavorful cards, but it could use some improvements.

If you enjoy this deck, I made a second version in Dimir colors, you can see it here
