The following bio is for a previous configuration of the deck:
My attempts at recreated my UB Draw Go list from SOM-ISD Standard.
Why not play Esper? Well, yeah, Esper may be better, though I can honestly say I haven't played against Esper with this deck. We do lose Supreme Verdict, Terminus and Sphinx Revelation...but we pack it up with more removal and card draw than Esper has.
The main advantage we have against Esper? We don't auto-lose to Burning Earth.
Mainboard:
Aetherling replaces Consecrated Sphinx as a finisher. He doesn't create as much value but he can definitely close out games.
Far // Away is our removal spell and pseudo-sweeper of choice while we do have Mutilate in the SB when needed.
Opportunity is in a sense our Blue Sun's Zenith. With U/W/x Control having Sphinx's Revelation we really needed a way to generate mass card advantage at an opponent's end step to turn the game around in the longer matches.
Both of the Jace versions I'm still pretty iffy on. Jace, Architect of Thought can really cut down on some damage that you may take and he can help filter through your deck to find the right cards that you may need. I'm still trying to decide if I would rather have Jace, Memory Adept in the main board if he would be better fit in the sideboard. For now, I believe that it's best to keep him main board with all of the American Control that will be floating around after Worlds.
The most interested inclusion that I have in here is the 2x Trading Post. I've been following Shaheen Soorani for the entirety of ISD-RTR with him playing Esper Control. He stated in one of his articles that it's about time control players move away from Auger of Bolas. While he does replace himself his best feature is that he acts as a wall against aggro decks...then those smaller aggro decks started to disappear and become Jund Midrange and UWx Control and Augur of Bolas doesn't protect you as well as he once did. Enter Trading Post. It's pretty much the Swiss Army Knife of the deck. It'll let you gain life, make a goat, get back a Ratchet Bomb or Tormod's Crypt or even sac itself (or another artifact) for a card when you need to find something on the spot. Having both Trading Post and Ratchet Bomb together has been nothing short of amazing. With the lack of sweeper the deck has it may take a bit to find what you need...and the reusable Ratchet Bomb works well as UB doesn't seem to have the outs to opposing Artifacts or Enchantments.
The rest of the mainboard is almost a direct port-in from last seasons UB Control.
A quick sideboard run through:Tormod's Crypt is a repeatable graveyard destruction tool when used with Post.Witchbane Orb shuts down Blood Artist, opposing mill, burn and many other things. If they destroy it, bring it back.Lifebane Zombie comes in more than any other card in my SB. Lets you rip a Thragtusk, Angel or whatever before they're able to play it and against a lot of decks he is a 3/1 Unblockable that you can protect and ride to victory on its own.Curse of Death's Hold because I hate Lingering Souls and we lack effective sweepers.Negate is self explanatory. Bring in against any opposing Island deck, they're doing the same against you.Mutavault and Nephalia Drownyard are both here as additional copies to help push you in the direction you need more. Against control? Take out a Mutavault from the main and throw in a Drownyard. Anything else? Take out a Drownyard for a Mutavault for some extra beats.Mutilate because sometimes we do need sweepers. I just hope that coming up we will see some better ones for non-UW decks.
