Deck I'm building for the upcoming game day. Had two deep fiends in my pre release and they wrecked it to a undefeated night. Wanted to build around these awesome emerge cards and this is what I came up with. A lot of people are going either U/G or G/B but I think U/B is a good shell. Now onto the cards themselves.

THE THREATS:

  • Elder Deep-Fiend - Turn 4 flash in on opponents upkeep is basically a timewalk if they have no instant speed plays. It's also a cast trigger which helps for several reasons. DOESN'T GET HIT BY Spell Queller. Big point there and getting hit by a reflector mage is not that bad an issue. Fights through most common threats in the format. Just a great build around card.

  • Distended Mindbender - Turn 4, strip them of CoCo and their reflector mage along with a 5/5 beater. Yes please. This would be a 4 of if a control deck comes around due to the cast trigger.

THE ENABLERS:

  • Matter Reshaper - Perfect card for what we want to do. Can replace itself with any number of things and with 3 power, it a pretty good clock on its own.

  • Eldrazi Skyspawner , Exultant Cultist , Palace Familiar - All cards that provide some extra benefit. Mostly these are flex spots and will be based on the meta. Right now, U/W spirits is big so having some extra flyers helps.

  • Dimensional Infiltrator - Another flex spot competing with most likely Eldrazi Mimic . Again, dealing with a lot of flyers in the meta.

  • Fathom Feeder - A good reason to go U/B. Deathtouch stops most ground attackers which is useful in a world of 2/3's and 4/5's. Also, the ability to draw cards late game is huge if a little overcosted.

REMOVAL:

  • Ruinous Path for planewalkers. Ultimate Price & Grasp of Darkness are both good general removal for most everything in the format. Grasp might be a little hard on the mana though.

  • Liliana, the Last Hope - Can kill several things and neuter the rest with her +1. Her -2 helps get back a good threat or an emerge enabler. Her ultimate is basically inevitability.

  • The mana base is basic and untuned. Corrupted Crossroads seems to be great considering it gets all three colors and we have no access to pain lands. Could be better if we change out some of the flex cards.

SIDEBOARD - The sideboard is a WIP. I know I want some number of Languish and that's about it. Other options include hand disruption or counterspells along with more planeswalkers or removal.

Managed to go before Gameday to get some testing. Deck is very powerful but suffers with hand disruption and planeswalkers. At least 3 negates are needed in the sideboard.

Game 1 - B/W Control - B/W control isn't terrible but is rough and depends on my draw. Definitely need help against planewalkers. So negate is going in the sideboard. Lost after putting up a good fight.

Game 2 - BW Control - Back to back bad matchups. Had both games under control until perfect topdecks from opponent. Linvala one match and sorin the next. Both times had him dead in a turn.

Game 3 - White Enchantments - Strange brew but perfect for what I do. Pacifisms and Arrests just make my emerge choices that much simpler. Game 2 triple deep fiend locking him out. Win.

Game 4 - Mirror match (ish) - Basically it was who got their stuff out first. Win.

Game 5 - Eldrazi Aggro - Colorless aggro deck. Never under a lot of pressure. Win.

This FNM helped me figure out my matchups better and helped me tune the list and sideboard. Going down one land and increasing my 3 drops a little. Baby liliana wasn't great but baby jace was.
