Sneaky Cephalids.

Starting off, the constables need 3 things to be effective.

1. Evasion

2. Anti-Removal

3. Buffs

Here rancor, tricks of the trade, and predominantly distortion strike take care of 1 and 3 while various counterspells take care of the anti-removal. Hands of binding also prove to be extremely useful for this as well. In addition, every other creature that isn't mana-ramp benefits from player damage for the sake of redundancy.
