U/R Fae (v. Quickling)

Modern* UR (Izzet)

22nht22

Based off of Hoogland's U/R Fae, a more accessible pool of cards also featuring M15's new Faerie - Quickling. Quickling gives a lot more game to one-mana removal that you either can't counter with your soft counters once they build a manabase or it just gains a big tempo and card advantage play. Alongside this, it's one of the few ways to interact with Abrupt Decay that feels so bad to be trumped by when you have a threat and a hand to protect it. Along with this, there are the generally expected but no less exceptional plays by bouncing Snapcaster to use its flashback effect again, the same with V Clique's and Spellstutter's etb effects. Being a faerie is also obviously a plus by giving more opportunities for Spellstutter plays; with the plethora of powerful one- and two-mana spells in Modern, just being able to Quickling then Spellstutter in response to the etb effect results in countering a two or less mana spell and leaving a 2/2 flyer feels so good.
