This deck takes a different approach to Vadrik, Astral Archmage...a Dragon's Approach.

This is a very straightforward burn deck. While Approach can fetch us any dragon if we have enough in our graveyard, the real reason we play is it is for the 3 damage to each of our opponents. Normally, 2R is a pretty steep cost for just 3 damage to each opponent, but with Vadrik on the battlefield, each of them are guaranteed to be 1R (potentially just R).

While tutoring dragons isn't the theme of the deck, there are still plenty of powerful dragons to keep in mind. We only run two potential targets, Niv-Mizzet, Parun and Knollspine Dragon; both offer reliable card draw sources to fill up our hand after spending our Approaches.

Most of the interaction in the deck comes from our various counterspells. The game plan is very focused on having Vadrik, so protecting him is key.

An all-star card in this deck is Thrumming Stone; if you cast a Dragon's Approach with this on the battlefield, you'll get to look at the top 4 and cast any number of Approaches for free. Each of those Approaches will trigger Ripple on Thrumming Stone, so you can potentially win the game off of a single Approach. This is our key target to search for with Fabricate.

We also run Leyline of Punishment to try and keep our opponents within a realistic range for us to burn down.
