Maybeboard


This is my third round of upgrades to my Edgar Markov EDH Pre-constructed deck. The main goal of the deck is to use Edgar Markov's eminence ability to get lots of vampires on the battlefield. From there I enhance them with ramp, lifelink, unblockable, vigilance, etc and swing for damage aggressively.

Land

The deck is mostly using the precon lands for now, I probably need to upgrade here next. With the modifications I have made focus mostly on black, some on white, and red is pretty much splashed. I reduced the mountains a bit to account for this.

Mana Ramp

The deck is mostly using the precon mana rocks. Black Market has proved to be game winning good since there will be a lot of creatures dying over the course of a game. It is not uncommon to get an additional 20-30 mana for free each turn late in the game. Caged Sun can double your black mana lands can produce. Azor's Gateway  /Sanctum of the Sun is a new addition that can give you mana equal to your life total.

Card Draw

I am up to a healthy 10 sources of card draw in the deck now which keeps your had full through the game. State of Ancestry is a stand out champ allowing you to discard your hand and draw cards equal to the number of creatures you control. I have drawn 20 cards before due to this and with all the mana you are floating at that point its usually game over.Skull clamp lets you sack 1/1 tokens to draw a card, which is handy early game. The rest of the draw spells are the typical black pay life for cards.Necropotence and Phyrexian Arena Allow us to pay life to draw cards

Creatures

I run 25 significantly upgraded vampires in this deck. I favored ones with high value that have other abilities on them like creature ramp, removal, and stealing opponent's creatures. I have pulled the mana curve down on them a bit over time. It may need to get a bit lower yet.

Targeted Removal

This deck uses a few removal spells and lot of abilities that hang off of creatures for removal since we are trying to get vampires out as consistently as possible

Board Wipes

Mostly stock wipes, Kindred Dominance was a nice addition for a single sided wipe. Sides, Undead Vizier provides some wipe on a body.

Enhancers

This is where this deck gets really fun and wins games! Lots of mana, lots of card draw, lots of creatures on the board. This deck delivers on augmenting this position.

  • Shared Animosity This card is absolutely bonkers. It gives each vampire +1/+0 for each other attacking vampire. If you have 5 1/1's attacking they become 6/6's when they attack!
  • Coat of Arms gives each vampire +1/+1 for each other vampire on the board
  • Anointed Procession doubles our token generation
  • Door of Destinies gives a +1/+1 equal to the number of vampires cast
  • Captivating Vampire pumps the team and lets us steal opponent's creatures
  • Akroma's Memorial gives all our vampires flying, first strike, vigilance, trample, haste, and protection from black and from red. Seriously this card is awesome
