Vegetarianism, the deck

Commander / EDH BG (Golgari)

rangab7

You ever wanted a mycotyrant deck that doesnt durdle and can do things? Here you go.

Mill get saprolings and either swing with them or use cryptolith rite effects to ramp to the skies. Eat the fungus king for cards and bring him back.

Most people want to play him as a fungus and saproling tribal or aristocrats. I play him with a mill, graveyard/reanimator theme with a lot of token and go wide support as a way to amass stronger tokens, cards, and win.

Goal is to get out the mycotyrant ideally turn two but 3 is ok. You want to use the many self mill cards to get the descend value high each turn. These cards also let you dig through your deck for valueable cards such as Cryptolith Rite. Then with a strong mycotyrant, either sacrifice him for cards or swing with him to gain some value. Finally, either win by sacrificing your fungi to Altar of Dementia, or swinging out with Overwhelming Stampede/Return of the Wildspeaker

Life's Legacy effects are super strong and even if mycotyrant hits the graveyard, there are so many ways to get him back it's fine. It also gets your descend count up by one.

The deck also has interaction but it's more single target than board wipes because you don't want your saprolings to die.

The deck is quite resistant to boardwipes and pulls itself together really well.

Overwhelming Stampede: Game winning if it resolves

Kessig Cagebreakers: Gets you a lot of tokens and can be reanimated

Syr Konrad, the Grim: Is kind of a failsafe for boardwipes. I think one of the best cards in the deck

Lord of Extinction: A nuke in damage but also an altar of dementia kill with it is funny. I keep it in for nostalgia and will never cut it

The Gitrog, Ravenous Ride: Saddle with Mycotyrant, draw many cards

Feed the Pack: It's really funny when you get a bunch of fungus and then a bunch of wolves at the same turn. Trading one Fungus for a wolf is also fine because they can block

Usually with a Buried Alive I get those three creatures

Shifting Woodland: Game-changing land. Four mana to get the best card in your graveyard is wild. Targeting syr konrad is often unseen.

Mesmeric Orb: Benefits us, hurts others. Get more fungus which equals more mana or more attackers.

They bring a lot of value and gitrog goes apeshit when you get him early or late

Fell the Profane  ,

Assassin's Trophy,

Manglehorn: I prefer this to collecter ouphe because it has an etb destroy which I like, ouphe is better for a super fast meta

Bane of Progress,

Caustic Caterpillar,

Grist, Voracious Larva  ,

Heroic Intervention

Collective Resistance : I love this card, so much value for 2-4 mana

Golgari Grave-Troll: Insane Dredge Engine and also becomes a beefy creature late game. Don't be afraid to cast it. You often need blockers as well because your fungus can't chump block so it's fun

Arachnogenesis: Fog that makes more tokens. Really cool and suits my meta well.

Fanatic of Rhonas: My favorite card in the deck

Skull Prophet: descend two early

Splendid Reclamation: getting milled lands back is awesome

Aftermath Analyst: Mills and Ramps later

Traverse the Outlands: Play this on turn five and I usually get 5-8 lands

Cryptolith Rite

Jaheira, Friend of the Forest

Elven Chorus

Deathrite Shaman

Harvest Season

Insidious Roots

Hedge Shredder

Rishkar's Expertise

Life's Legacy

Skullclamp

Underrealm Lich

Victimize

Vilis, Broker of Blood: one issue is that your fungi can't block. This is a pretty great incentive not to attack you. Plus he has a weird removal ability and draw on him. He's a sleeper good card and with so many ways to reanimate him. I really just love this card here.

Hunter's Prowess

Six : Recursion but is very powerful
