My version of a semi competitive simic edh with Vorel as commander.

strengths:1. Ramps up very quickly.2. Many infinite combos.3. Enough counters and recursion to make sure your spells land.4. Not too color intensive meaning not many dead moments.5. Come-into-play creature tutoring just incase someone Nevermores or decleration of naughts your palichron or Terastodon.6. Laboratory Maniac allows for a win condition of you dont have perfect board presence.7. able to shuffle in problem generals or creatures.8. has a few political cards to help keep the target off of your head until its time to win.

weakness:1. too much mill can be problematic but sometimes laboratory maniac welcomes it.2. fairly weak to non-land sweapers.3. can be very annoying to friends because it does pack a lot of infinite combos and will make people scoop more often than not.

The combos:Not a combo, but a very honorable mention is Riptide Shapeshifter it costs 9 mana to set him off i know but when your only running one illusion Palinchron or one spirit Deadeye Navigator or one sphinx Consecrated Sphinx or one eldrazi Kozilek, Butcher of Truth or one elephant Terastodon he can be awesome tutoring them into play getting around Nevermore and decleration of naught.

Deadeye Navigator+Palinchron or Eternal Witness or Terastodon or Phyrexian Metamorph means you can blow up a ton of non-creature permanents or recur your whole GY or infinite mana with Palinchron or make copies of new drops with metamorph.

atleast 5 lands + Palinchron, Inexorable Tide and Omniscience means infinite proliferates.bouncing pally to your hand to cast and proliferate. 1000 counters on planeswalkers or scepter or cannon or +1/+1s on Fathom Mage for draws. Jace Beleren likes to -10 people every now and then.

im sure almost anyone who is a great fan of blue knows Arcanis the Omnipotent and Mind Over Matter is broken. being able to infinite tap or untap and draw with them and Kozilek, Butcher of Truth as your last discard means infinite recycling library or you can decide not to cycle it and just win with Laboratory Maniac.

Life from the Loam + Spitting Image = infinite copies of whatever. keep retracing image and loaming the lands back to your hand. even more evil with infinite mana.

Selective Memory + Primal Surge means being able to play all the permanents in your deck then drawing one while maniac is in play.

Deadeye Navigator + Eternal Witness + Time Warp = another infinite turn combo.

Commander Combos:lets admit, Vorel isnt a bad simic commander. Hes a 3cmc 1/4 body who can block early beats and doubles all counters on anything but an enchantment or planeswalker.

Vorel + Primordial Hydra = enormous beater or counter engine. Simic Guildmage takes them and makes Fathom Mage draw with them or Zameck Guildmage eats them for draws.

Vorel + Fathom Mage = tons of draw. its the same thing as having +1/+1 counters placed on her. she has 5 on her, for two mana and a tapped general you draw 5 cards. mind of matter discard a land or something useless at the time and untap him for 10 cards..... maniac...

Vorel + Magistrate's Scepter = infinite turns as long as you keep atleast 4 on it. a little sloppier than most would like but it does its job none the less.

Vorel + Lux Cannon = infinite permanent removal. need i say more? goodbye unfriendly planeswalkers.

A few things to do with infinite mana:Capsize!! bounces all the permanents. Power Sink means they cant pay 9387459374957398475938475 mana.Asceticism regen all the creatures! Simic Guildmage move +1/+1s all over the place or move an opponent's Indestructibility to a land.
