I am a humble servant of MTG's most unspeakable chaos god. After delving into the darkest corners of gatherer, I discovered the jank-o-nomicon. Poring through its pages I unearthed an unholy rite to summon the destroyer of games. However this rite required power, and a vessel. I have sought a vessel for my dark lord for years. First there was a peculiar goat like creature . Then came a pair of kings . There was even a mighty dragon . None could channel the amount of power needed to summon forth the god of chaos before being struck down by non-believers.

My search has come to an end, a worthy vessel has appeared. I am ready to spread the gospel of chaos to all those who will listen. Join the cult of the vortex, together we will break through the petty rules that govern a normal game and thrust its participants into the roiling chaos beyond.

The combo is "simple". Eye of the Storm + Hive Mind + Grip of Chaos optional extra: Thousand-Year Storm

Lets walk through what happens when I cast Lightning Bolt with this combo out. First, I cast bolt, the hive mind trigger and the eye of the storm trigger both go on the stack, I choose to let hive mind happen first. Each of my opponents casts bolt (hive mind is NOT a may) and then those bolts find random targets from all available targets due to grip of chaos. Then the eye of the storm trigger happens and my bolt gets exiled onto eye of the storm. Notably, eye of the storm says to CAST the copied cards. If I choose to cast the eye of the storm copy then all of my opponents must also cast it because of hive mind and then grip of chaos makes them all find random targets. This happens every time an instant or sorcery is cast by anyone.

Now that we've completed the beginners course, lets move on to EXPERT MODE.

This combo can get extremely complex at times. For example: Fork , Radiate , Reverberate . Cards with storm also have quite alot of added value with this combo, Mind's Desire will let you play your entire deck if you get it on eye of the storm. Fun fact, did you know that Time Warp reads TARGET PLAYER takes an extra turn? Thousand-Year Storm also adds a whole layer of complexity onto an already complex board state if that's your thing.

The list I have above aims to end the game after the combo comes out by incinerating everyone simultaneously with like 1000+ grapeshot's that all target randomly. But you can drag out the game for a very long time by putting something like Beacon of Immortality or Learn from the Past in the deck. Playing around with the spell list is what makes this deck so "fun".

Everything else in this deck is just ramp and tutors to get out the combo ASAP. Since you're combo is 3 6-7 mana enchantments, you need all the ramp and tutors you can get. Even with the insanely expensive mana package I have here, you're normally not going to get the vortex combo out until turn 6 or 7. My suggestion is not to cast hive mind or grip of chaos until you have the other 2 enchantments. Most opponents will remove either if they're left out on the board for a few turns. You can use Eye of the storm to find the other 2 enchantments, but don't play it unless you're sure you can find the other two enchantments in the same turn. As passing turn to your opponents with eye of the storm alone in play is very dangerous.

This combo really is for jank enthusiasts only, as you can win the game far more easily with just eye of the storm + time warp. But it can make for some absolutely insane games, and it is a very unique experience.
