I built this deck shortly after the printing Theros. I've always loved playing Mono-Green in Commander, but the ubiquity of Simic-based decks and particularly the card Cyclonic Rift left the strategy largely unplayable (outside of something like Elves, which required heavy investment in expensive cards). The other strategies went too big, too fast for Mono-Green to keep up with. This was meant to be a response to that metagame, but what it became was so much more - a veritable monster that is still infamous amongst local players from that time and likely the deck I am most known for.

The original design intent was simple: generate a lot of mana, draw a lot of cards, never let your opponents block. While a lot of the deck has changed over time, it still holds to this design principle.

This is the most up-to-date version of the list. At this point, I don't put as much effort into trying to make it better as I just add cards for the heck of it. I wouldn't consider this deck to be the menace it once was - not because it's gotten weaker (on the contrary, it's gotten much better), but because the format is in a much different place than it once was. Still, against other decks of a similar power-level, and even against some decks of a higher power-level, it can steal games before any realizes what's happening.

All in all, I'm very proud of what this deck became and how clearly it met it's goals. More importantly, though, is that I'm proud of how unabashedly "me" it is: it feels like a deck only I would make. It is exactly the type of deck I like, built the way I like, for the type of Magic that I like.
