The re-imagining of an old favourite. Now in mono green! (somewhat)
With the return of the mighty Rancor, switching from UG to G ended up being the best option in testing. While you lose Blighted Agent and strong counter spells, you gain a better mana base and reliable plays which make the deck a lot more consistent. Turn three wins are very, very possible and punish players who are unprepared.
Asides from Rancor, I've been trying out Cathedral of War as the card seems best suited to infect. The card is very effective as +1/+1 on any infect creature is always relevant. The fact that in comes in tapped isn't much of a draw back most of the time, you will want to either play it turn two after a turn one Glistener Elf or on turn one followed up by a
Blight Mamba
or Ichorclaw Myr. Failing that, it can also be a pretty good top deck if you have an Inkmoth Nexus on the table to get the last few hits in.
I don't think anything else in the main deck really needs explaining. So on with the sideboard
The sideboard, while abusing Phyrexian Mana is full of great options to give you reach. Paying life is often not going to hurt you as your clock is much faster than aggressive decks as the spells you pay life for in this deck will often lead you to the win.
Gitaxian Probe gives you information against control and or Delver decks, to check if the coast is clear to pump out.
An extra Apostle's Blessing used for creature heavy match ups and an extra Ranger's Guile for control/counter magic.
Mental Misstep to trump
Vapor Snag
and anything else that can get in the way of your first creature.
Dismember of course as every creature in this deck is a 1/1.
Naturalize, not sold whether this should be
Viridian Corrupter
or not, but I like to have as little three drops as possible.
Carrion Call
is the only stand out here. It comes in against control as additional threats; it's worth paying four mana for, trust me.
Any improvements, ideas and or +1's if your so bold would be highly appreciated.
